All Hands On Deck: Engine Install
The Wonder Boys at the Restoration Hangar are at it again. Never satisfied with just a paint-over when restoring a military vehicle, it's a frame up restoration that fits the bill here. This vehicle was not in pristine shape when it arived.
Larry Peacock, Mike Brophy, Gary Woodall, Steve Foss, Ron Boyte and Denny Johansen install a rebuilt engine on a freshly restored frame for a Ford GTB, also called a "Burma Jeep". They were used exclusively in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Many of them were used on the "Burma Road," and came in multiple configurations including as a Cargo Truck, Wrecker, Bomb Service Truck with Crane and as a personnel carrier. You can see more pictures and details of the "before" status on our news page here.
Life At Estrella Warbirds Museum
Look what made national news! If you are big into building model aviation, you might have seen an article in the May issue of Model Aviation (page 59) which featured our Cessna T-34B.
Even the hardest working duo never stops. Ron Brooks and Scott Stelzle finish up a renovation of the restrooms in Hangar One.
Meet Vidya Schalk, one of our newest volunteers. She has been a docent in various museums in Singapore for over 10 years. Her father was in the U.S. Air Force and she grew up on various military bases. She visited the museum recently and fell in love with it and has decided to volunteer here!
Considering a destination for your car club? You may want to follow the advice of the Monterey Peninsula Ferrari Club and book a tour (with catered lunch) at Estrella Warbirds Museum. They look great parked in front of the freshly restored F-5E! Click on the pic and talk to Ken!
Thank you to EVERYONE who sold or showed up to help or came to enjoy our Spring Swap Meet. It was a resounding success! Special thanks to John Spooner for all his work in coordinating and managing the event!

Also a very special thanks goes out to Rob Kinnear. Rob has presided over the board of directors during these past several years. Now he has more time to devote to his other passions at the museum. He is very much appreciated!
Congratulations are in order for John Couch, recently elected as Board President for the upcoming year. He assumes the reigns on June 1st.
New at The Woodland Auto Display
Look what's new to Woodland Auto Display. It may or may not be on display but there's a reason. This one travels places and most times is proudly carrying a historic race car. Anyone who has ever been inside the Woodland Auto Display located on the grounds of the Estrella Warbirds Museum, will tell you that the facility houses an incredible collection of vehicles. Not just race cars of all sorts, but also vintage, classic, custom and somewhere in between any of the aforementioned groups. It is ever changing. It is visited by automotive aficionados from around the world.

You may also know that Richard Woodland has been involved in the racing world for most of his life. He has a great concern for preserving that portion of American history that not everyone understands, but most all of us enjoy. Mr. Woodland is also our volunteer "national ambassador," representing and promoting Estrella Warbirds Museum not just at numerous dirt track racing events on the west coast, but also nationally. Tens of thousands of visitors to various museums around the country have seen some of his cars on display. You may have even seen them at local community events or car shows. Could be, the vehicles were or will be transported by the above pictured vehicle.

We are proud and honored to be the home for the Woodland Auto Display. Thanks, Richard for all the work you do! Don't forget, if you visit Estrella Warbirds Museum, your entrance fee includes not just Estrella Warbirds Museum but also the incredible Woodland Auto Display.
