Parker Cultural and Scientific Commission

The Parker Town Council created the Parker Cultural Commission in 1992. In 2008, the Commission added a scientific discipline to the scope and became the Parker Cultural & Scientific Commission. In 2011 their new Parker, Arts, Culture and Event (PACE) Center opened. The Commission is charged with creating new and diverse programs that will engage the community while continuing to offer programs that have proven their success over the last 18 years. The Commission offers arts education programs in the areas of music, dance, theater, art and science.

The May SCFD board meeting was hosted by the Denver Zoo.
The Denver Art Museum, Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Denver Zoo presented their annual certification reports to the SCFD Board of Directors. Following the presentations and board questions, the board approved Resolution 12-04 Pertaining to the 2012 Tier I Formula and Discretionary Funds Distribution. A total of $27,725,881 in 2012 sales and use tax revenue is projected to be distributed to these organizations as follows: The Denver Museum of Nature and Science, $6,931,470; Denver Zoo, $6,720,754; Denver Art Museum, $5,775,301; Denver Center for the Performing Arts, $5,040,565; and Denver Botanic Gardens, $3,257,791.
Treasurer Bob Grant reported that the March 2012 SCFD sales and use tax revenue was $3,375,251.36. This compares to March 2011 tax revenue of $3,584,026.69. The variance is ($208,775.33), a 5.8% decrease in 2012 over month-to-date (MTD) 2011.The total 2012 year-to-date (YTD) sales and use tax revenue is $10,082,223.45. This compares to YTD 2011 revenue of $9,716,363.58. The variance is $365,859.87, a 3.8% increase in YTD 2012 over YTD 2011.
The meeting concluded with a proclamation honoring and thanking Jim Martin for his six years of service and contributions to the SCFD, including serving as Treasurer and Vice Chairman.
The next regular SCFD Board meeting is scheduled for 1pm, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the PACE Center 20120 E. Main St., Parker, CO 80138.

| Tier II Update | |
2012 Tier II Qualification Applications are due to SCFD by 5pm today,
June 1st with the 2012 Tier II Certification Reports due on July 11th. Thank you to all those who submitted prior to the Qualification deadline. SCFD staff will be in touch after June 28th with budgeted distribution numbers necessary for completion of the Certification Reports.
Don't Forget!
A Certification review session will take place on June 6 from 3pm-4:30pm at the Mizel Arts and Culture Center. This session will help Tier II managers prepare for 2012 SCFD Certification filing. Please contact Jessica Clare or Nancy McCamey if you have any questions.

| Participate with SCFD at the 2012 Cherry Creek Arts Festival! | In order to promote greater public awareness of SCFD to the value of to citizens of the district, SCFD is encouraging organizations to give patrons of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival a BOGO or other discount coupon. Instead of a booth SCFD will have banner(s) around the festival displaying the QR code. A patron can scan the code with their smart phone and a page offering discounts will come up.

As a reminder, the amounts recommended by county cultural councils are not official until they have been approved by the County Commissioners or City Council in each county and passed as a resolution by the SCFD Board of Directors on September 27, 2012.
