Derick Dermatology, located in Barrington, Illinois, proudly announces the opening on Monday, August 20, of a new, second office in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The new Crystal Lake facility beautifully duplicates and expands the state-of-the-art equipment, comfortable accommodations, and high quality of dermatologic care that patients have come to expect from Derick Dermatology’s office in Barrington. Many of Derick Dermatology’s patients live in the greater Crystal Lake area and now will enjoy a more conveniently located office.
Dr. Derick and all Derick Dermatology clinical providers will see patients in both the Crystal Lake and Barrington offices. Effective August 25, Saturday appointments will be available in both locations. If you currently have an appointment booked in the Barrington office after August 20 and would prefer to go to Crystal Lake, please call our Barrington office (847-381-8899) and change locations. We are now booking new appointments for Crystal Lake, so contact us today to schedule an appointment.

| TIME FOR SUN SAFETY |
Sun Protection
Sun safety is important year-round but especially during summer when you must give extra attention to safeguarding your skin from harmful ultraviolet exposure from the sun. Good habits will minimize or prevent unwanted brown spots (hyperpigmentation), wrinkles, texture changes in the skin, and more seriously, skin cancer.
There are many simple measures that you can incorporate into your daily routine to protect against the damage caused by UV radiation. It’s important to remember that sun protection is for everybody, regardless of age or skin type. Please watch the video, “All-over Sun Protection” to learn more.

On June 2, Dr. Derick led a volunteer team of Chicago-area dermatologists at the SELF Magazine Workout in the Park at Chicago's Grant Park. This outreach is part of the Women's Dermatologic Society's award-winning Play Safe in the Sun Campaign. Dr. Derick served as the event co-chair with Jessie Cheung, MD. Volunteers offered free skin cancer screenings, sun damage assessments and sun safety education to appreciative crowds. |
Dr. Amy Derick and her colleague, Dr. Amanda Friedrichs, paired up to perform skin cancer screenings for a set of twins who were doubly committed to sun safety and skin cancer prevention due to their complexions and active outdoor lifestyles.
Derick Dermatology medical assistants Kaylyn Dever and Jen Matesi volunteered at the recent SELF Workout in the Park, assisting Dr. Derick and the other dermatologists in their busy day of screenings.
