June 2016
Happy Summer!

While we have been busy building projects in Nepal, we have also been going strong in Mongolia! We recently won an award from the World Health Organization (WHO) for our hepatitis screening work and took part in an inter-sector conference about financing hepatitis eradication in Mongolia.

We are looking for volunteers to travel to Nepal or help out in downtown Flagstaff. We have one of a kind Kazakh wall hangings for sale and our outdoor clothing is now on eBay.

As always, thank you for helping us keep our mission in motion! Read below for more information and ways to help.

All the best,

Meredith Potts

FIRE's project will be included in the first edition of WHO's  "Hepatitis Screening Guidelines." Meredith Potts also presented this project at EASL's annual International Liver Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

To date, we have screened 3,500 rural Mongolians through this program. A short video from our 2015 project in Khovsgol province is below.

Through the spirit of fellowship and service above self, Rotary is in the unique position to be able to eliminate viral hepatitis in Mongolia just as it has done with  Polio across the world.

If you are a Rotarian, please consider supporting this Global Grant. If you are not a Rotarian, please help spread the word to Rotarians you know.

For more information including a full description of the project, brochure, video, photos and more... please visit FIRE's Rotary webpage. The image below also links to the Grant brochure.

Mongolian Finance Discussion

In May 2016, FIRE joined the World Hepatitis Alliance (WHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO)  and many government Ministries and agencies in Mongolia for a discussion about innovative financing ideas for elimination of viral hepatitis.

This was the first discussion of its kind anywhere in the world. It was a terrific step in making Mongolia the first country to be hepatitis free.

To learn more about the event, please visit the World Hepatitis Alliance website.
