I recently returned from a national real estate conference in Washington, D.C. Something that was mentioned in one of our sessions I attended continues to resonate.
"ACTIVE PARTICIPATION INCREASES MEMBERSHIP VALUE"
In visiting businesses throughout Loomis, I usually ask if they are members of the Chamber. A few I have encountered will say "yes" but then immediately proceed to tell me they get nothing out of their membership. I then ask if they attend monthly mixers, volunteer on any committees, attend any Chamber events or the monthly Chamber Connection-usually the answer is "no". In my first few years of opening my business in Loomis, I would not have survived had it not been for the referrals I received from other Chamber members. This was a direct result of my being present, involved and engaged in the Chamber.
I encourage all Chamber members to actually participate and reap the value that will come your way.

Ryan DeMartini, CFP | JC Bookkeeping & Financial Services
I joined the Loomis Chamber in June of last year, this is my first year on the board and I couldn’t be more excited! One of my goals this year is to bring more young professionals into the Chamber, through the creation of the Loomis Young Professionals aka LYP. I also joined the family business last year where I am a Certified Financial Planner and Tax Preparer at JC Bookkeeping and Financial Services. I am in the process of taking my Enrolled Agent tests for tax preparation and will be starting my MBA in the fall of 2018. In my free
time
, I hang out with my dog Angus, workout, and regularly compete in fitness competitions all over Northern California.

Ideas on growing your business...
We all know that if we don’t keep growing our business... it’s only a matter of time before we may be closing it. So, what to do ??
1.
Make that extra phone call... Dare to call that customer you’ve always wanted to work with. STICK YOUR NECK OUT.
2.
Call your existing customers once every two weeks to say Hi. Stay connected.
3.
Give that extra degree of effort... Water boils at 212...not 211
4.
Dare to be on SURVIVOR... Outwit and Outlast your competition
5.
If you have been thinking of replacing a weak employee, stop thinking and gitRdun. Hire the person that’s smarter than you.
6.
Here’s a tough one. TURN OFF THE phone for an hour ...3 times a day !
7.
My favorite. EAT THE FROG. Tackle the biggest problem you have with a vengeance.
8.
WRITE customers THANK-YOU notes... you know, with a pen and paper
9.
CONSTANTLY think... Is THIS the best use of my time right now to grow the biz ? MAKE A SIGN in your office with that question.
10.
Get more INVOLVED at the Chamber. Make friends or even make acquaintances...CONNECT !!
In other newsletters, I have mentioned the names of many companies that we work with that I have met, because I have been active in the Chamber. I asked a few other chamber members how their business has benefitted from being a Chamber member. Patricia Green (your Chamber president) in the last 12-18 months, has seen 90% of her Commercial Real Estate business come from chamber members (one of those customers was Loomis Storage buying four acres in Loomis to expand our business). Ron Figueroa received a $300,000 landscaping contract as a result of working with a chamber member. Bob Ferreira (Ferreira Insurance) has added about 30 chamber members as customers.
ENGAGE...CONNECT ...GROW... as our tagline says.
WOW it’s JUNE already.
PLEASE send me examples of how the Chamber has helped you out.

Don’t Let Fleas Bug You This Summer
Summer comes with wonderful things, like trips to the lake and relaxing in the back yard, but it also means flea season is ramping up! Many areas have live fleas all year round, but they are at their worst in the warm weather. The last thing you want when you’re relaxing on your lawn chair is to notice creepy crawlers scuttling around on your furry best friend. Fleas can be a big nuisance, causing itchiness on you and your pet. Some lesser known consequences are life-threatening anemia in animals, bacterial infections in people, and tapeworm infections in pets and children. Infestations can get out of hand quickly, leading to eggs in your carpets, couches, beds, and backyards. Often there can be hundreds or thousands of fleas in your home before you know there’s a problem and it can take months to clear them out. Not every pet will act as a good detector. Some dogs and cats are very allergic to flea saliva, causing an extreme reaction to even one bite, whereas others can be covered and not scratch at all. The safest and easiest way to keep these critters off your pet and out of your home is to have all pets in the household on year-long flea prevention. There are many effective oral and topical options for flea control, so talk to your veterinarian about one that will work for you.
Enjoy your summer flea-free!
