The Royse City CDC recently returned from the International Council of Shopping Centers is Las Vegas with good news of retailers who have Royse City on their radar. Specifically, a national hotel chain and sit-down restaurant near the ballpark that is scheduled to be open in 2018. There are also several other businesses that have approached Larry Lott, CDC Director, about coming to Royse City. Those include an ice cream shop downtown & a volleyball recreation facility. Royse City Urgent Care, which is located on the I-30 service road in front of Walmart, is finishing out the inside of their facility at this time for an August 1 open date.

SAVE THE CALABOOSE, BUY YOUR PERSONALIZED BRICK NOW!
Once a brick is purchased, we will place the brick in a local business temporarily until the bricks can be placed as the landscaping around the Calaboose when it’s restored.
Our Historic Calaboose Jail was built between 1911 and 1921. Situated between the Royse City water tower and the railroad tracks sits the dilapidated one-room concrete building. The doors are padlocked and the windows covered with iron bars, but gaping holes in its walls make entry a trivial task. Few people know it's there, and even fewer know its history. But for a time in the early 20th century it was the city jail. It is an old jail that was used for less dangerous offenders or a holding area until being taken to Dallas to be incarcerated. The Jail sits below surrounding terrain and is prone to flooding. It has been deteriorating for years and needs major repair work done before its total collapse. The Royse City Chamber of Commerce has announced a fundraiser to restore the old structure and preserve a colorful piece of city history.
