Get Ready with Books, AudioBooks and eBooks

Taking a road trip this summer? We can help make it fun and relaxing, with a great collection of materials perfect for summer.

Enjoy listening to a great audiobook from our newly expanded summer collection! 
 
If eBooks are more your thing, we've got you covered! OverDrive allows you to download up to 10 audiobooks or eBooks to your tablet, smartphone, or laptop completely free.  You can even borrow an eReader! 

All you need is your Mid-Hudson library card. 
Summer Reading           Game Summer Reading Game Kids
Studies show kids that read over the summer do better when they head back to school in September. Our Summer Reading Game can help your child stay up to speed by rewarding them for reading! Bring your kids to the the library and register for the Summer Reading Game so they can earn fun prizes, be entered into a raffle and be part of our Lego Tower of Reading. Program Registration

We are thrilled that our programs have become so popular and often have a full registration with a waiting list. We encourage everyone to register in advance for events and please ask that you cancel if you can't attend so that someone on the waiting list can enjoy the program. Registration is easy and can be done on our online calendar at www.pattersonlibrary.org or by calling us at 845-878-6121, ext 10. Walk-ins are always welcome if we have room.

    ADULT PROGRAMS
Knitting Program
Tuesdays, July 11, 18, 25 and August 1    1 PM

Want to knit but don't know where to begin? Come to our 4- week introductory course to learn the basics of knitting while enjoying the fresh air under our gazebo. Needles and yarn will be provided to make a fun project perfect for summer.  Registration is required and is limited to 15 people.

Learn how the McDonalds franchise and the famous golden arches got their start as we present The Founder starring Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc. 
Rated PG-13 for brief strong language.


Sinatra:  A Celebration of a Man and His Music
Wednesday, July 19    6 PM

Pack a picnic dinner and spend a warm summer evening in our beautiful park listening to your favorite Frank Sinatra songs with the Tony T. Orchestra. Registration is required as inclement weather will move us indoors.

KIDS' PROGRAMS
Join us for some summer fun! On Tuesday, "Gym On Wheels" will bring gymnastics right to the library. Join us Wednesday as we dissect Lima Beans and see how plants grow! We will head outside on Thursday for some outdoor fun and games.
Six days of action packed fun! "Gym On Wheels" will bring some gymnastics fun to the library on Tues. July 25. Then we will  head outside for some outdoor fun on Wed., July 26. On Thurs., July 27 we will explore some of the science behind super hero powers!

The following week, we will have some fun with Legos on Tues., August 1. On Wed., August 2, join us as we do some cooking and whip up a batch of waffles. And on Thurs., August 3, we will learn how to do origami and make pinwheels!

Have you ever seen a wallaby? Here’s your chance to learn about amazing animals up close!  Watch a chinchilla take a dust bath, listen to a macaw talk, and watch a tree frog dine on some bugs. Children under 4 must be accompanied by an adult.  
Parents' Night Out

Have a fun night out with your friends while your parents do their own thing at our viewing of Descendants 2. Ages 7+  
Mad Science: Sounds like Science
Thursday, July 27   12:00 PM
Have fun learning about sound and sound waves. Make bag pipes out of trash bags and a speaker out of a trash can and create a shock wave! Ages 4+

SPAtacular Day

Get ready to shine with a cool facial and beautifully manicured fingers and toes! Bring flip flops to decorate and enjoy some delicious snacks.  Ages 6 - 11.

Thursday, June 29  10:30 - 2:30 PM
Learn the basics of child care, the responsibilities of sitters, what to do in an emergency and more. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. Bring pencil/paper and a bag lunch to gear up for this 4-hour program! For ages 11+
