Paint Nite Fundraiser
Wednesday, June 29   7 PM

Don't miss the fun! Get your friends together and join us for this exciting Paint Nite fundraiser for the Patterson Library Friends. Create your own “masterpiece” at this fun, lively event with step by step instructions from a professional artist. For two hours you’ll laugh, learn, listen to great music and enjoy refreshments all while supporting the Patterson Library. There’s no experience necessary, and we’ll provide all the supplies, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

The event begins at 7 PM so, please arrive by 6:30 to get your seats and refreshments. Ticket price is $45.00 and includes all supplies, a glass of wine, appetizers and a great sense of community for supporting the Patterson Library. Seats are limited, register early. Tickets must be purchased online, just click on the link below. Must be 18+ please.

The Patterson Library high school and middle school Battle of the Books teams are getting ready for another summer of literary competition. The BOB teens will be selling beautiful potted pansies just in time for Mother's Day to help with team expenses. Stop by the library during sale times, or during business hours 5/4 - 5/6, to pick up the perfect Mother's Day gift.

Pete Seeger: The Story of His Music & His Life

Folk singer Pete Seeger impacted the world with traditional folk songs, songs of activism and protest, songs from around the world and his own anthems of affirmation. Robert Cohen, an accomplished speaker, has been lecturing on American folk and popular music for over a quarter of a century and will share his vast knowledge and experiences working with Pete Seeger at the New School in this fascinating presentation filled with songs and stories.

Babysitting 101

Are you interested in becoming a top notch babysitter? Young people ages 11 and up will learn the basics of child care, the responsibilities of sitters and parents, and what to do in an emergency. A short test will be given and participants will receive a certificate of completion. Bring pencils, paper and a snack to gear up for this 4 hour program! Registration is required.
Kick Off the Summer: Movie Night

For kids in grades K and up. School's OUT! Join us for the newest Disney Channel Original movie, Adventures in Babysitting. Two teen rival babysitters team up to hunt down one of their kids who accidentally ran away into the big city without any supervision.

 Come in Monday June 27 to Friday July 1 to fill out your summer reading log and receive a brand new book! Complete your reading log whenever you visit the library this summer and enter for a chance to win a grand prize each week!

American Girl Tea Party

For ages 7 and up. Kick summer off with tea and sandwiches alongside your doll and some friends! Make a fun American Girl themed craft and have your doll's hair styled. After, your doll will walk the red carpet for a fashion show! Wear your favorite fancy outfit to this special event.
Star Wars Party

Climb aboard the Millennium Falcon for Star Wars Day as part of the Patterson Library's Summer Kick Off! Kids ages 6 and up will enjoy Star Wars themed Legos, games, treats, and crafts! Feel free to come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character!

Join us for this informative video course with renowned horticulturalist Melinda Myers. Learn everything you need to know to grow fresh food right outside, or inside, your home! Discover how to grow micro-greens and sprouts year-round, oyster mushrooms in your basement, fresh fruit and veggies in your backyard, and so much more! The course will be shown on our big screen and is scheduled twice weekly for 3 weeks.

Kids ages 3+ can stay for crafts and movies with Miss Kathleen & kids ages 7+ can play their own Trivia with Miss Jenn and Hudson Valley Trivia in the Main Library while their parents play. Kids must be registered.

It's never too late to learn how to play an instrument. Guitar instructor Joe Krzyzewski, from The Music Cottage in Brewster, will introduce students to the basics of acoustic guitar, including basic chords and technique, in this introductory workshop.

Registration required, limited guitars are available. Ages 18 + only. Please note if you have a guitar when you register. 

Learn how to research and record local history in this informative talk with the Patterson Historical Society and Dr. Sarah Johnson, Putnam County Historian. See great historic photos & hear about online sites and how you can contribute to the efforts to locate, document, map and upload info to HRVH.org, the New York State Office of Historic Preservation and other online sites.
