Volunteer Spotlight
Name: Meg Humphries
Occupation: Retired Teacher
Time with JFS: 5 months
Volunteer Position: Math Academy Mentor

Meg started volunteering with JFS in January - being a retired teacher of Math and Business Studies she really missed teaching and wanted to participate in an activity where she felt useful. When asked what she likes about volunteering with Math Academy, she said "I really enjoy the interaction with the children and watching them learn that mathematics is not merely gaining techniques to answer numerical questions in school. They learn about its ongoing history and about the people who discovered new ways of doing things through mathematics...Math Academy is a really worthwhile activity for the children and the mentors."  In her spare time she is a Lion and treasurer of the Natick Lions Club, she is also very active in the Framingham Garden Club and is an avid golfer.

Thanks so much Meg for joining us, your experience teaching and interest in Math has been a great addition to the Math Academy program! We appreciate all that you are able to do!

Program Spotlight
Did you know that JFS has a citizenship program?

Through grant support JFS is able to connect with immigrants who would like to become citizens of the United States. The citizenship process can be daunting and overwhelming, but with the help of JFS staff, individuals can navigate the process with support at every step. From application assistance to interview practice, JFS has helped over 100 people in the last year apply for citizenship!american-flag-banner.jpg
