June at the Art Center!
This is such a beautiful time of year in New Mexico! The earth decorates this month with turquoise skies, emerald leaves, and red and yellow song birds. Celebrate the rainbow within the community this month!
In the gallery
Tapestry as Exploration and Innovation , will include tapestries based on National Parks and Monuments as well as a collaborative installation of small tapestries based on the 360̊ skyline of Ghost Ranch. There will be two and three dimensional tapestries in a variety of other themes featuring abstract and representational content. The materials used in these pieces range from wool and cotton to plastics and metals. Throughout the course of the exhibit, featured tapestry artists will be providing demos in the gallery.
Tapestry as Exploration & Innovation
While handwoven tapestries are an ancient art form that date back centuries, the Fuller Lodge Art Center will host an exhibition of contemporary tapestries woven by the members of the High Desert Tapestry Alliance and the Tapestry Artists of Las Ara ñ as . Over 30 New Mexico artists will be on display in both the main gallery space and the Portal Gallery!

Tapestry as Exploration and Innovation will run from Friday, June 29 to Saturday, July 28, 2018. There will be an opening reception on Friday, June 29 from
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
End of Vessel
The Vessel exhibit is not just a combination of media, but also of ideas and interpretations. Some artists perceived a vessel as a human holding emotions. Others provided receptacles for plants or ashes.
The show is full of ceramic and wood vessels, paintings and photography, and
so much more!
You can come by to see the show any time during our business hours. It will be on display until Saturday, June 23.
End of Carol Vredenburgh's "Solid as a Rock" Show
2016 Artist in Residence at Bandelier National Monument, Carol Vredenburgh, has brought a collection of paintings and drawings to our Portal Gallery. See what inspired her during her time at Bandelier. This show is currently on display until Saturday, June 23.

If you are visiting the Art Center between June 4 and August 3, expect giggling, silliness, and a whole lotta art learnin'
going on!
Classes still available
While the 1st-3rd grade classes have filled completely, there is still room in some of the other classes.

If you haven't registered your child for classes yet, there's still plenty of time to do so. Now, you can register ONLINE! So check availability and sign up today!

4 to 6 year olds:
All classes have availability except for Bugs, Bugs Everywhere! Pre-school aged kids can learn Science through Art, learn about Animal Symbolism, make a Picture Book, and more!
4th through 6th grade:
Most weeks are still open. From Pop Art to FrankenToys and Visual Poetry to Printmaking, there are plenty of openings.
Teens:
All 9 weeks of classes are still available! If you have a Middle School to High School aged child, we have something to appeal to all artistic preferences.

With Summer Art Camp about to start, we are in need of your throw-aways! If you have corks, bottle caps, Altoid boxes, shoe boxes, 2-liter bottles, etc., then bring them to us!

Last minute classes
Watercolor Workshop
Starting tomorrow, award winning artist Jeanne Hyland will be holding Wet & Workable: Pets & Portraits, a 2 day watercolor workshop.
Learn the art of watercolor by applying wet on wet techniques toward human faces
and pet portraits.
Class is Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2 from 9am to 4pm with a break in between.
Icon Workshop
Learn the art of iconography through this course offered by Saint Job of Pochaev in Los Alamos. Study the ancient floating technique of icon painting in the Byzantine Russian tradition under the instruction of a teacher from the Prosopon School of Iconology.
The workshop will be held June 11-16, 2018 from 9am to 4pm with a lunch in between.

A Performance
Steam Punk Dream Theater Performance
Since April 26, a handful of students have been working hard to create a steam punk fantasy world that include characters, costumes, props, and back drops.
This Saturday, June 2, at 10am, watch their hard work come to life as they perform in the classroom above our Ceramics Studio.

We are looking for artists for our upcoming exhibit, Under the Influence!
We are asking artists to create work inspired by events, other artwork, music, dance, books, and more! Give credit to and talk about where your inspirations originate. Share with us the product of your influences.

The deadline for entries is Friday, July 13!
Arts & Crafts Fair
We are excited about this year's Arts & Crafts Fair on the lawn of the Fuller Lodge! We have already juried in some fantastic talent and are looking for more. If you or someone you know makes great quality, hand crafted art, we would love to display your work
at the fair!

Apply by July 13 to avoid the $25 late fee. The latest date to apply will be Thursday, August 9. Get your space before it's gone!
Art in White Rock
White Rock Artist's Market
Check out the work of local and northern New Mexican artists outside of the White Rock Visitors Center. This mini-fair takes place on the first Saturday of every month through September 1. Don't miss it this
Saturday, June 2 from 10am to 3pm.
Take Pride
Some of the activities will include karaoke, a scavenger hunt, lawn games, sidewalk chalk, face and body painting, AND MORE!
You can also help decorate a float for the Pride Parade in Santa Fe which will take place on June 30!
Los Alamos Pride Festival
While most of the state and the country have been celebrating Pride for quite some time, Los Alamos County will be holding its first Pride Festival ever.

On Friday, June 15 from 4pm to 7pm, show your support for the LGBT community. The festivities will be held on the Fuller Lodge Lawn. Follow that up with the Red Elvises at the Pond and then head over to the Brew Tub for Pride After Dark with Eryn Bent.

On Saturday, June 9 from 10am to 2pm walk through the heart of downtown Los Alamos and visit with local Chamber member businesses and non-profits. Learn about what our town has to offer to tourists and
locals alike.

There will be a band stage and a kid's activity area as well as the traditional sand pile.

Pet Palooza
Coming up soon is this "Free, Fun Festival for Families with Children"! The Christian Church, right at the entrance to town, will be celebrating wild (and domesticated) life from 6:30pm to 8pm.
