WSCGA Junior State Amateur Championship
The WSCGA Junior Championship is much more that just another junior tournament. It is a gateway for six players to get the opportunity to represent the state of South Carolina and the WSCGA against Georgia in the 14th Annual GA vs SC Matches at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee this year. The prestigious Karen Ferree Trophy now sits with Georgia, but SC is looking to take it home.

The Junior Championship field continues to increase in strength over the past 35 years. Consisting of 40 players from all over the state with a handicap of 15 or less. The Championship is a 3 day event, 54 hole tournament, with the first round starting tomorrow, June 29, at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, SC at 8:00am off the first tee on the South Course.

Some key players to watch this week: The Foundation Championship Champion Abigail Schimpf, Daniel Island, SC, Past WSCGA Junior Champion Baylee Evans, Lancaster, SC, and USGA Junior Girls Qualifier Champion Isabella Rawl, Lexington, SC.

"Out Of Position"

Ever wonder what we mean when we say "you are out of position" There are many ways to determine if a group/player is out of position, the estimated time it will take to play each hole and/or a little more accurate way is by position on the course. Any group will be considered "out of position" if:

  • Reaches a par-3 hole that is clear of all play and all players in the preceding group have played their strokes from the teeing ground of the next hole.

  • Reaches a par-4 or par -5 tee and the group in front of you is already off the green.

Times on cards are an estimate..... position on course is a reality, let's be aware and keep up.
