Kamm's Corners Farmers Market Opens Outdoors on Sunday, June 8
Be sure to stop by the municipal parking lot behind Walgreens at West 168th Street and Lorain Avenue on Sunday, June 8, for the first outdoor Kamm's Corners Farmers Market of the season. New hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to goods from more than 30 vendors, enjoy live music by local favorite Jeff Sherman on opening day. Our featured chef demo will be from the celebrated "farm to table" restaurant, AMP 150, starting at 11:30 a.m. To help kick-off opening day, Yesteryear Horse & Carriage, sponsored by the West Park Kiwanis Club, will offer horse-drawn wagon rides for only $1 per person.

Artist Maria Leng will showcase original hand-painted shirts, jewelry, and garden art for sale. Flying Monkey Tye Dye will be selling vibrantly colored clothes, purses, and more! Blood pressure screenings will be offered by Priority Home Health Care.

Please help support the market by dining at Red Lantern Kitchen & Bar on Monday, June 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. Details are in this flyer, which must be presented to your server for 20% of your purchase to benefit Kamm's Corners Farmers Market.

Gardeners! The popular, free perennial exchanges take place on June 15 and October 5. Simply dig up and bring your perennial plants to share or trade. No selling.

Market volunteers are needed! Make new friends while doing good deeds! Help is needed in setting up the market starting at 8 a.m., interacting with shoppers during market hours at our info tent, or tearing down the market at 1 p.m. If you are interested in assisting a couple of Sundays a month, call market manager Bill Markowitz at 216-252-6559, ext. 1400 or email him at [email protected].

Local merchants will again provide games with prizes starting at 6:30 p.m. and concessions will be offered by Four Corners Baseball. The movie starts at dusk.

Please join your neighbors and friends for our 37th Annual Town Meeting on Wednesday, June 25, at River's Edge.

Information will be presented about entering a Visioning Study around the possibility of a merger with neighboring Bellaire-Puritas Development Corporation. KCDC Board President George Pofok will speak about the process and how people in the community will participate in the study.

The 15th Annual Golf Outing & Pig Roast To Benefit Colleen DeCrane Family Foundation

The Colleen DeCrane Family Foundation was founded in 2000 after Colleen lost her three-year battle with cancer. Its mission is to assist families who are facing an illness to meet their daily needs. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed over $150,000 in assistance to such families.

This year, in celebration of Colleen's life and fifteen years of golfing fun, a pig roast is being included in the outing taking place on Saturday, June 7. Click here for the brochure with all the sign-up information and details.

Pedestrian Light-Activation Added to Crosswalk

Yesterday, the crosswalk on Lorain Avenue at Kamms Plaza received an enhanced safety feature: light activation. On either side of the crosswalk, a pedestrian may push a button to activate flashing lights, providing a high-visibility, real-time warning that he or she is about to enter the crosswalk. The solar-powered system is coordinated using a wireless radio frequency transmitter. We thank the City of Cleveland and Councilman Keane for this important safety upgrade. Here's Ohio Law regarding Crosswalk Right of Way:

4511.46 Pedestrian on Crosswalk has Right of Way

When traffic controls are not in place or not in operation, a driver shall yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway in a crosswalk when the pedestrian is upon the same half of the roadway as the driver, or so close as to be in danger. No pedestrian shall step off the curb and walk or run into the path of vehicles so close as to be an immediate hazard.
