#LeaveNoOneBehind campaign
We are now in our third month of the #LeaveNoOneBehind campaign and asking the Government of Canada to have a truly global response in the fight against COVID-19. We need Canada to invest at least 1% of Canada’s COVID-19 response (CA$1.5 billion) towards the ACT (Access to COVID-19 Tools) Accelerator and global humanitarian needs so that everyone, everywhere has access to the medicines, treatments and vaccines they need. Learn more about how you can take action by visiting our campaign page.
Solidarity and anti-racism
Results Canada stands in solidarity with those directly impacted by the systemic racism and inequality that exists in every country in the world. In keeping with our experience in ‘education and action’, we have compiled the following list of resources to help you learn about anti-racism so you can take action against injustice.
Impact of COVID-19 on global poverty reduction
The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed to us the frailty of even the strongest health systems worldwide and its impact will reverberate far beyond the health sector. The impacts on immunizations, nutrition, gender equality and education in already vulnerable low to middle-income countries will be even more pronounced due to the pandemic. These issues continue to be at the core of our work - and it is imperative that we don’t slow down our efforts now. Read how COVID is impacting the issues that Results Canada’s works on.
Global Vaccine Summit
On June 4th the UK hosted Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance's third donor replenishment conference raising USD$8.8 billion for global vaccine programs! This huge win for the world was possible thanks to the tireless efforts of advocates around the globe -including Results Canada volunteers - who helped secure Canada's commitment of CAD$600 million. You can watch the Global Vaccine Summit on Gavi's website here .
Parliament update
The House of Commons has adjourned for the summer and will resume on Monday September 21, 2020. The Special Committee on the COVID-19 pandemic - a hybrid version of Parliament - will meet 4 times over the summer to touch base on Canada’s response to COVID-19. With Members of Parliament focusing on their ridings over the summer, make sure to check out their social media pages to see if they are hosting any virtual community events!
