At the Doctor

A little old lady goes to the doctor and says, "Doctor I have this problem with gas, but it really doesn't bother me too much. My farts never smell and are always silent. As a matter of fact, I've farted at least 20 times since I've been here in your office. You didn't know I was farting because they don't smell and are silent."

The doctor says, "I see, take these pills and come back to see me next week."

The next week the lady comes back. "Doctor," she says, "I don't know what you gave me, but now my farts...although still silent...stink terribly."

The doctor says, "Good! Now that we've cleared up your sinuses, let's work on your hearing."

If so, they may be suffering from Diogenes syndrome, also known as senile squalor syndrome. In cases of Diogenes syndrome, it is usually up to adult children or relatives of those affected to identify the first signs and seek out care for seniors with the syndrome. Check out these tips for grappling with this condition...

testimonialWe're Delighted to Hear from Families About Our Exceptional Care!

A Satisfied Client's 5-Star Review:

"Visiting Angels has been great. It's really been a great service and a great help to the family. The aides do a variety of things for my mom. She was incapacitated due to a shoulder fracture and isn't able to use her walker, so she needs someone to be constantly with her. The caregivers help and guide my mom while she walks, help her with bathing and dressing, make meals, go to the doctor with her, and do other services."

angelsAngels Who Soar: Celebrating Our Hardworking Employees

We are so proud of our wonderful, hard-working employees who go beyond the call of duty. Below is why our Angels are so special...

Nathalie F. has been on our Angel team since September 2017. Not only do our clients appreciate her, but the office staff does, too. Over the Memorial Day weekend, she was willing and able to do 3 fill-in assignments in a row! It's so helpful, especially on a holiday weekend, to have special "go-to" Angels like Nathalie who are willing to step-in at a moment's notice. We also appreciate that she responds to office requests within an hour, as soon as she can.

Judith W. is one of our star newer Angels who has not missed an assignment by calling out. She is a hard-working employee who currently cares for 3 of our clients. While most of our Angels prefer to work closer to their own homes, Judith has been willing to travel to assignments throughout both Mercer and Burlington counties, which we greatly appreciate.

We are grateful for you and thank you for your hard work, Nathalie and Judith!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Each month, Rudy Tervooren (Co-Owner and Executive Director) and Sharon Mejias ( Assistant Director, Sales & Marketing) travel throughout the community visiting referral sources and attending client meetings.
Rudy frequently gives presentations at senior centers, churches, and in offices throughout Mercer and Burlington counties in New Jersey.
We're passionate to share how our State-certified home care employees can help seniors with all their daily living needs, making it possible for them to continue living at home safely and less expensively than in a facility.
If you would like to schedule an eldercare presentation, please call 609-883-8188 or email [email protected].

AboutOurCareAbout Our Care

Visiting Angels is a New Jersey-licensed, non-medical home care company committed to going beyond the "industry standard" to provide an exceptional level of security, comfort and peace of mind to our clients and their families. Our "Angels", all certified home health professionals , are ready to provide assistance with the activities of daily living to seniors, the disabled, those recovering from surgery, and to those who are simply frail. Our services include tasks such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, and shopping, to more personal tasks such as hygiene assistance, bathing, dressing, and grooming.

Visiting Angels ' in-home care helps make it possible for seniors and other adults to continue living at home safely. We understand how challenging the home care selection process can be. We're experienced in working with families, with loved ones resistant to receiving care, and with third-parties payors (such as insurance companies and the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs).

Visiting Angels' services help families spend more mutually-rewarding and meaningful time with their loved ones and also helps provide comfort and peace of mind to those who face the challenges of long-distance caregiving.
