I just wanted to check in and see how you are doing. And don't just say
fine.
Lately, life in my house has been a bit hectic. The school year is coming to a close. My friends and family are already trying to schedule out most of the summer. At Family Services, we have some big events coming up like the
Butterfly Festival in June, which is exciting but challenging. Needless to say, there have been a few days that haven't been
fine.
We live such busy, complicated lives. It's so easy to forget about our own mental health. Between work, family obligations, and trying to squeeze the most out of the good weather, it can get pretty overwhelming for all of us.
With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I just wanted to check in on
you.
'It's okay not to be okay.'
Sometimes, you're just stressed, but, occasionally, it's more than that. And that's okay. You're not alone. Every year,
1 in 5 adults experiences a mental health condition like depression or anxiety. Even if you aren't struggling, you probably know someone who is.
Mental health is as vital as physical health. You don't have to just trudge through it. If you had a terrible cough for months, you'd go to a doctor. It's the same for your mental health. Treat your mind with the same respect. Take care of yourself.
This month, I'm going to experiment with new ways to take care of my own mental health. Maybe meditating or trying a new workout or enjoying a quiet dinner with my husband. I'm also going to check in - like I am with you - on the people I care about.
I'm proud to work for an incredible organization that helps those struggling with mental health difficulties. Our
crisis and counseling programs do so much to help the people of our community. If you or someone you care about needs help, we are always here. Our main number is (920) 436-6800.
If you have any questions or comments about Family Services and our programs, please contact me. I would love to hear from you. You can call me directly at (920) 436-4360 ext.1332 or email
[email protected].
Take care of yourself! Your mental well-being is important. Thank you for everything.
