Advent Devotional Guide
Available as a Bulletin Wrap on Dec. 3 and via Daily Email Dec. 4-25.
This year the Formation Team has written two forms of advent devotionals. The first is a weekly candle lighting to do with a wreath on the Sundays of Advent. This will be a part of the Worship Bulletin on Dec. 3. Additional copies will be in the historic lobby on the following Sundays. The alternative is a daily email blast with a brief idea or scripture to ponder. We hope you enjoy these as we journey to Christmas together.
The Gift of Reading
For this year's Holiday giving to Westerly Families FPC will be purchasing books for each student to take home and build an at-home library. Donations of cash, checks (payable to First Presbyterian Church) and online donations (http://bit.ly/FPCBookDrive) will be collected from 11/19-12/10.
We know that literacy is critical for escaping poverty. We also know that access to books is a key barrier for many families at Westerly Hills.  Rick Holland said, “the world belongs to those who read.” Let’s give these children the world this Christmas!
Upcoming Classes for 4th & 5th Grade
As children grow older it is important to have check-in opportunities to see how their understanding of their personal faith and the big concepts we incorporate in worship and daily living are developing. At FPC we do this during the tween years through our 4th and 5th grade Sunday School Classes, which offer special units to explore these.
  • Catechism Class (4th graders) begins with a Parent & Child Meeting on Jan. 7 (Fellowship Hall Overflow Space). It covers the Belonging to God Catechism. Click HERE for more information and to register by 12/30/17.
