Highlights from 1st-5th Grade Classes This Week:

We began our preparations for next week's Last RE Class of the Year by opening in prayer for our wonderful 2nd graders who will receive Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament at their 1st Holy Communion Mass this Sunday, April 30th at 1:00.

We prayed that Our risen Lord would especially bless each of our 2nd grade parish children, all their families, teachers and catechists who have helped to prepare them for this most incredible day.  We also prayed that the grace of this Sacrament would flow out into our entire parish family, and into the world.

Thank you Jesus
for giving your body, blood, soul, and divinity
to us each time we receive you in the
Sacred Host and Precious Blood!

Closely associated with 1st Holy Communion is a beloved Catholic tradition: May Crowning.  In many parishes, especially those dedicated to the patronage of Our Lady, such as Queen of the Holy Rosary (we have two in our diocese, one in Wea and one in Overland Park) or Most Pure Heart of Mary in Topeka, May Crowning is one of those precious childhood memories that is just sooo CATHOLIC, and really gives us that Catholic Identity that we carry throughout our lives.  Ask a Catholic Grandma if they remember participating in a May Crowning. :)

Please enjoy the video your children saw in RE this week.  There are scenes from long past and not-so-long past May Crownings:
