Experience K-State Olathe through food, fun and more

K-State Olathe invites you, your friends and family to join us in a day of free food, exhibits and activities designed to entertain and educate all ages. The All-University Open House is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the K-State Olathe campus. There will be hands-on demonstrations, activities, information, food, exhibits and more. Open House is free to attend and no registration is required.

Food science 'boot camp' offered in July for KC students

This summer, students living in Greater Kansas City can earn academic credit through a food science "boot camp" at Kansas State University Olathe. The courses are available to undergraduate and graduate students at Kansas State University, as well as students at other universities.

Research capabilities spotlighted

On May 17, Kansas State University is opening its doors to businesses in the Kansas City metro area with the 2017 Research Showcase. The event is from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the K-State Olathe campus. It highlights the wide breadth of research expertise, resources and capabilities at the university that are available to public and private partners in Greater Kansas City. The public also is invited to attend.

Faculty profile: Judy Favor

Judy Favor, assistant professor of educational leadership, has continuously blended athletics and academics throughout her career as an athlete, coach and educator. More recently, she is exploring how the interplay between these subjects can be used to accurately predict the interactions of a classroom or team, as well as a team's success.

Continuing education for veterinarians, March 29 - April 26 -- Veterinarians, veterinary technicians and practice managers can earn continuing education credit through a series of animal health-focused information sessions at K-State Olathe. Open House, April 1 -- Make April 1 a day for fun, family and warm Wildcat memories at the 2017 All-University Open House. From 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., K-State Olathe will be serving up free food, fun and plenty of purple with numerous activities, exhibits and entertainment for all ages that celebrate K-State and the benefits K-State Olathe offers to Greater Kansas City. Trends in food traceability Lunch and Learn, April 4 -- Meet fellow Institute of Food Technologists members and learn about trends in food traceability at a lunch and learn from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on April 4 at K-State Olathe. Tejas Bhatt, vice president of science and policy initiatives and the director for the Global Food Traceability Center at the Institute of Food Technologists, will address what is new at the National IFT and emerging trends on food traceability. Academic information session, April 5 -- Discover how a degree or graduate certificate from K-State Olathe can expand your career potential or enhance the skills and knowledge of your employees. Healthy Cooking for Diabetes, April 11 -- K-State Olathe is offering a class that helps residents with Type 2 diabetes learn how to cook easy, delicious meals that help them manage diabetes through a healthy diet. Following a short nutritional session, attendees cook multiple main courses and side dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Check out the new, lower prices and sign up for the 5-8 p.m. April 11 class. Register now.
Veterinary biomedical science webinar, April 26 -- From noon to 12:30 p.m. on April 16, Paige Adams, D.V.M. and faculty member of the veterinary biomedical science master's program at K-State Olathe, will discuss how the program prepares and educates graduates to be the next generation of leaders in animal health. Students gain a better understanding of animal diseases and their relevance to human health, and also learn skills in biotechnology, business and other fields in order to solve complex problems in veterinary medicine. Around the campus

On March 9-10, the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses made K-State Olathe its destination for the the group's 30th Annual Visions Symposium. Around 150 nurses attended the two-day event to learn about and discuss emerging health care topics and trends, medical technology, patient care and more.
