Speed Marriott - Owner / CEO, P1 Learning
Speed Marriott began his career in broadcasting over 30 years ago as a copywriter. He quickly discovered that copywriters drove cars from the previous decade, while account executives drove cars from the current decade. Based on this revelation the move was made to sales and he has never looked back.

Speed has worked for broadcast companies such as Shamrock Broadcasting (Disney), South Central Communications, and Entercom Communications. In 2000 Speed joined forces with Advantage Systems and in 2007 Speed partnered with broadcaster Katey Woolam to found the online training company, P1 Learning. Today P1 Learning caters to thousands of traditional broadcast stations and media based companies on an international basis.

Sharing a Health Update:

KBA Board Member and incoming Chairman-Elect, David Brinkley, Public Television Director, Western KY University
This morning beginning at 5:30am at UK hospital, David Brinkley began to undergo surgery with a Da Vinci robot to remove 2 tumors found in his neck. David is a fantastic member of our broadcast family and our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family today.  Yesterday, David sent an email to Henry and KBA Chairman, Derron Steenbergen updating about his condition.
We are sharing this email below with our membership to raise awareness and hoping to gain some prayers for David.  As Henry has stated several times since he began his term as KBA's President /CEO, "These Broadcasters, our members, those that we work with so closely everyday become our work family, any time any type of condition like this occurs we want our members to know that we support them and will be there for them in any capacity in which we are able."
Please see the email from David Brinkley below:
I'm sending you this as an update, feel free to share with the board.  I realized that some of them may not be as active on social media. Also, it wouldn't hurt to think about maybe raising awareness of this type of cancer (Head and Neck Cancer). Thanks for everything that you do for the KBA!
I have two tumors in my neck.  One is on a tonsil and the other is near a lymph node.  I've got a date with a da Vinci robot  tomorrow morning at UK at 5:30am!!  If they can't get it all, radiation and chemo will follow.  This all came up very suddenly (after the convention) and I am glad they were able to facilitate the surgery.
The response that I have received speaks volumes about value of good health care and insurance.
I'll be out of commission for a bit.   Keep up the good work and I'll keep everyone updated on progress.
We have too much work ahead of us for this to be an elongated issue for me, I'll be good as new ASAP!
Have an excellent week and thanks for your service to Kentucky Broadcasters!
