KBEMS will be communicating with Emergency Medical Services-Training Educational Institutions and Educators on a quarterly basis through the KBEMS Education Matters Newsletter.  

The newsletter will contain: educational resources, regulatory guidance and clarification on topics related to training, continuing education, certification and licensure, and will be a platform to disseminate national educational guidelines and practices.

KBEMS Education Committee
The education committee is a standing committee of the board. The Education Committee shall consist of seven (7) voting members representative of EMS Educators in the state of Kentucky. At least one (1) voting member of the Education Committee shall also be a member of the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services.

Webinar Series: HB 309 Mandatory Reporting/Referral Requirements For Professionals: Domestic/Dating Violence, Child Abuse, and Vulnerable Adult Abuse

Description: This two- hour webinar will increase the knowledge, skills and awareness of professionals about changes in the domestic violence mandatory reporting statute. This session will also cover mandatory reporting statutes for child abuse and vulnerable adult abuse.

HB 309 amends KRS 209A and requires professionals – including law enforcement, licensed mental health professionals, and health care workers – to provide a suspected victim of domestic violence and abuse or dating violence and abuse with educational materials related to domestic violence and abuse or dating violence and abuse.  The law goes into effect across Kentucky on June 29, 2017.

They deliver exceptional  pre-hospital emergency medical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. While EMS professionals and projects in Kentucky continue to receive national recognition, we continually strive to improve service delivery and elevate our standards of  excellence. 

EMS-TEI Policy Manual Development 
EMS-TEI policy manual development can be difficult especially if you are starting from scratch.  I have received many requests from EMS-TEI directors for a sample EMS-TEI policy manual. 

Military Medic to Civilian EMS Provider (EMT-AEMT-Paramedic) Bridge Course Project

Our nation’s military medics are trained to standards not currently recognized by the certification levels listed in the National EMS Scope of Practice.  In most cases, military medics are trained to the level of emergency medical technician (EMT) with additional, task specific advanced medical skills.  KBEMS is working with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education to facilitate the development of military to civilian EMS education bridge courses for military medics transitioning to the civilian workforce.
