We hope you take time this spring to enjoy your local forest preserves.  Our woodland wildflowers are putting on quite the show this year.  Carve out some time in the next few weeks to take a stroll and enjoy the sights.  If you like what you see, start your own conservation garden at home!  Experts will be on hand at our Native-Plant Sale to help you pick out a selection of plants suited to your backyard.  Event proceeds will support the projects and programs of the Forest Foundation of Kendall County.

The Forest Foundation of Kendall County in partnership with Natural Communities Native Plants invites you to learn about our local habitats and plant communities at the

Over 200 species of native trees, shrubs, and perennials are available for pre-sale purchase online. 

Pre-sale ordering ends on May 13, 2017.
Purchased selections will be available for pickup during the May 28, 2017 event at
Harris Forest Preserve located on
Route 71 just west of Route 47 in Yorkville.

A limited selection of popular species will be available for purchase during the event for purchase.

Summer Camps are Filling Fast!
 
Looking for summer fun?  Secure your spot today in the Kendall County Forest Preserve District's  2017 Summer Break Camps.  Our nature and equestrian-themed camps are wildly popular, introducing children to nature, wildlife, beginner horsemanship, and outdoor recreational activities.

Each fun-filled camp session features nature hikes, games, crafts, exploration and discovery. Camps are offered for different age groups starting at age 1 through 9th grade, with program offerings at both Hoover Forest Preserve in Yorkville, and at Ellis House and Equestrian Center in Minooka. Summer Camps begin the week of June 12 and run through the week of July 31. Spots fill fast, register your child today!

Natural Beginnings Program Resources
Natural Beginnings
 
Registration for the 2017-2018 Natural Beginnings Early Learning Program is filling fast.  Openings are available in our Tuesday-Thursday afternoon session.
 
Natural Beginnings is a 9-month nature preschool program that introduces children to the world around them by exploring various nature-based themes!
 
The Natural Beginnings Program takes place at the Hoover Forest Preserve in Yorkville, with morning and afternoon 2-day and 3-day sessions.

Registration is open for our Spring Public Programs!
  
Program offerings can be viewed on-line at our website, or by clicking the link below. All of our programs require registration. If a class does not meet its minimum enrollment, it will be cancelled two days prior to the event. Early registration prevents cancelled classes!

Nature and Outdoor Play-Themed Birthday Parties
 
Kendall County Forest Preserve District can now host your child's birthday party.
Parties can be hosted at Harris or Hoover Forest Preserves as well as the Kendall County Historic Courthouse at the Laws of Nature Center. All parties include environmental educator led activities, a craft, outdoor activities if hosted at the forest preserves, or indoor nature center activities at the Historic Courthouse. Space is also provided for gift opening, cake, and parent led activities. Groups of up to 30 can be accommodated.
Boy Scout and Girl Scout Badge Programs

Kendall County Forest Preserve District now offers badge programs for Boy Scouts and
Girl Scouts of all ages.

These programs allow your scout to spend the day in one of our preserves with an Environmental Educator and complete all the requirements to earn one or more of their badges.

Riding Lessons & Kids' Parties at Ellis

Riding lessons can be purchased individually or in a packages of 5 lessons.
  
Birthday Parties include horse encounters, use of the Ellis indoor classroom, and horseshoe craft activity.
Sunrise Center Therapeutic Riding Program @ Ellis House and Equestrian Center

Sunrise Center North Therapeutic Riding Program provides horseback riding lessons and equine assisted activities to individuals with special needs.
