“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.   Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.   Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.” -Psalm 25:4-6

Where in the World is Pastor Hanna? Last week, I was at Whitworth University’s Institute of Ministry as my Study Leave for the summer. I love being a student and learning about God’s word. It is a little piece of seminary that I can hold firm to while serving in the church. The desire is, that if I go and learn, then I will be empowered and emboldened to teach more effectively. This Saturday, Jamey and I travel to Petersburg, Alaska. Over the summer I have been mentoring a Louisville Seminary student while he serves as the pastor at the Presbyterian Church in Petersburg, AK. The North West Coast Presbytery is sending us to worship with them and to guide Daniel Van Beek in his internship. I have never been to Alaska, but I know that it is a truly beautiful place. I am excited to see the heavens declare the glory of God in that rugged and beautiful place. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” -Psalm 19:1-2
As I study at Whitworth and teach Daniel this summer, I am reminded that our lives are full of opportunities to learn and to mentor. We seek knowledge and wisdom and are entrusted with that gift to share with others. God wants us to come to our relationship with questions and a desire to dig deeper. There may not always be answers in the time frame we desire, but God is still present and active in that relationship. I love that the people: Israel, are named, “Wrestles with God”. Our faith is not a dictatorship, it is a relationship. In the same way that we are engaging our neighbors, we are simultaneously engaging in relationship with God. What is God teaching you this summer? What is God growing in you this summer? Are you open to a new thing that God wants to lead you into this year? Are we sharing that wisdom with others?

Show us your ways, O Lord. Teach us your paths. Guide us in your truth and teach us. For you are God our Savior, and our hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Amen.

Pull Tabs for Kids!
When you pull-a-tab from aluminium containers, say a prayer for a child.

For several years, our church has collected "aluminium" pull tabs and the tabs are delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Spokane. The income from tabs help with family expenses so they can be near their sick child.

There is a collection container in the Mission Information area.

We can all help with this "quiet" ministry.
