KGI Spotlights
Student Steven Kechichian
Steven is a current MEng student who understands how advancing biomanufacturing can benefit those with life-threatening diseases. At seven years old, he was diagnosed with leukemia and took part in a stem cell transplant for an experimental cancer treatment. Fortunately, he was able to emerge with renewed health and a strong appreciation for science. He now wants to help make therapies like the one that saved his life.

Student Prologue Winners
Every year during the first week of school, SALS students spend the entire week working on a project making medical devices with the use of a 3D printer. This encourages students to think outside the box, take ownership of a project, and learn to work in teams. This year, Indah Kusamawardhani, Emma Nkwam, Kasey Smith, and Erik Gonzalez won first place in creating a 3D printed tracheal splint.
Faculty Kiana Aran
Earlier this year, assistant professor Kiana Aran created a proof-of-concept study that could potentially change the world of oral vaccination. Aran created a self-administered, needle-less, pill-sized technology that jet releases a stream of vaccine inside the mouth, called MucoJet.
