Longtime KGOU General Manager Karen Holp to Retire
Karen Holp
After 28 years of service to KGOU, Karen Holp will retire later this fall. Notable accomplishments during her tenure include the expansion from one signal in Norman to multiple signals in communities across Oklahoma from Woodward to Ada.

Other milestones for the station include adding more news/talk programming in 1996, adopting a digital automation system in 1997, launching a website, KGOU.org, in 1998, building new studios in 2005 and expanding to 24-hour service in 2006.

Under Karen's leadership, the station's audience grew from 14,500 weekly listeners to approximately 70,000 listeners per week which resulted in increased private giving. Plans for a public reception will be announced in the coming weeks.

Intelligence Squared US Debates Presidential Powers Aug. 14
electric shredder with US Constitution
Intelligence Squared US debates the following proposition: "The President Has Usurped the Constitutional Power of Congress." With executive orders, administrative regulations, creative interpretations of federal statutes, and executive agreements with other nations, it may seem that the President, not Congress, is wielding the most potent legislative power. But some argue that this is nothing new: they say the President is simply exercising his well-established executive discretion. Tune in Sunday, Aug. 14 at 12 noon to hear the spirited debate.
