SUNDAY (after breakfast, concert, worship, and lunch) any and all are invited to sit down for a few minutes and listen, talk, and consider who we are as Bethany Church, and what we might look like in 2020. How are we doing and what is our primary mission? Have thoughts or questions? This is a gathering for talking, not a Church Meeting for deciding.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ALL-CHURCH VISIONING MEETING

Sunday, April 14th!

What is our mission? How are we doing?  Where are we going? Following the worship service, please come to a meeting to participate in our Visioning Process.

Lunch and childcare will be provided.  The meeting will conclude by 1:30 pm. All (not just the official members) are invited. Your participation is important!

Sunday School

The Sunday School will be spending the next 4 weeks participating in Mission 4/1 Earth, a mission project of the United Church of Christ! (see the details about Mission 4/1 Earth in the Outreach

section of the Dialogue!) This promises to be a very exciting program and we hope that all our Sunday School students will be able to attend! Here is a taste of what we will be doing!

logo Mission 4-1

Mission 4/1 Earth

Mission 4/1 Earth is a National UCC Eastertide initiative on environmental issues. In short, as a wider church we are seeking to:

  •  plant 100,000 trees world wide
  • log 1,000,000 hours of work on earth care
  • write 100,000 letters advocating that we all take better care of God's earth.
This Sunday's Worship will look at this a bit more. Then the work will start.

Second Sunday Concerts-

On April 14 with Carolyn's Angel Band - a hospice choir; May 12 we will have something special for Mother's Day so you better plan on attending; and June 9 a small choir from the Montpelier Gospel Choir will perform.

red 2nd concert

All will be held in the Chapel beginning at 9:30 a.m. and coffee will be provided. These wonderful events help center you for worship service at 10:00 a.m.

Concert Aurora
Aurora Brush is holding a concert  in the Bethany sanctuary next Friday, April 19 at 7 pm. Proceeds will help fund her incredibly amazing summer program, which catapulted her music into a whole new realm last year. It's a place where she gets to work intensively with artists working in their field.
 Entry is by donation.
Aurora on Piano
As a teaser, one of Aurora's songs will be playing on ORCA (local access TV) all week. A YouTube video will be available soon, watch the KIOSK, Facebook, and out website for the link.

Words for God's word Easter
Were you there on Easter to see this started? Watch this space to see how it is going. Or growing.
Lesson one: Easter is always possible, but sometimes we will have to water it...

Bethany Bowl-

April 9, 2013  Fed: 112  The NECI soup was bacon/vegetable. John Hnylka made sloppy Joes. Phyllis added green beans and the doctored up the left over soup from last Tuesday.  Judy Murray made a tossed salad with fixings donated by Joanne Hardy. Ira Gravat, a new volunteer, made a sauce for the pasta left over from the Variety Show. Chris Terry and Judy Murray dished out the many pies and cookies brought in from Shaw's by one of the regular guests at the Bowl. Thanks also to Karen Songhurst for lots of bread and rolls. And as always Pete Gomez poured beverages. Tom Lever picked up the NECI soup from National Life.

Bowl center piece and Chef mopping

Gary Rogers and Conrad Rowell were dishwashers, and Gary washed and set the 10 tables. As always on the second Tuesday, Amy Bell provided super desserts along with Chris Terry and Ann DeVaughn. Judy Ribolini brought in two large bags of shoes from a fitness center...Phyllis was almost mauled while setting them out...a great donation.
