KPFK On the Air: 
The Labor Review (Sundays @ 8:30am)

KPFK's longstanding show about labor and union issues is normally heard on Sunday mornings, but this Saturday, June 9th, activists and thinkers involved in the labor and justice movements will gather at The Last Bookstore in downtown for a live teach-in. The corner bookshop in a reclaimed downtown space at 453 S. Spring St. will become labor-organizing central as leaders and experts from student groups, unions and faith-based organizations gather for a panel discussion on economy, work and poverty. The teach-in starts at 3pm and will be moderated by Henry Walton.

KPFK to Broadcast Mexican Presidential Debate

 

KPFK 90.7 will broadcast the final presidential debate in the lead-up to the July 1 national Mexican Presidential election, on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 6pm. Pre-debate coverage will begin at 4pm.

 

Mexico will be electing a new president on Sunday, July 1. This Sunday, the final presidential debate will be held in Guadalajara between the four leading candidates: Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Enrique Peña Nieto, Josefina Vásquez Mota, and Gabriel Quadri de la Torre. KPFK special bilingual coverage begins at 4pm, hosted by KPFK host Ruben Tapia, Rodrigo Argueta, and Fernando Velazquez, followed by live coverage of the debate at 6pm. KPFK will be broadcasting the presidential debate live in Spanish on 90.7 FM in Los Angeles, 98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 93.7 FM in San Diego, and 99.5 in Ridgecrest /Chinalake and via the internet through www.kpfk.org.

 

KPFK is a bilingual station that features Spanish language-programming Monday through Thursday from 9 PM to midnight. It is the largest public radio station in the country to feature such extensive Spanish-language coverage.

Tracey Kardash, Director of Development for Union Station Homeless Services, receives the in-kind donation from KPFK listeners who donated to the Meals for the Hungry premium. Union Station is the largest social services agency in the San Gabriel Valley, providing services to homeless men, women and children ranging from meals to transitional housing, to family counseling and life skills training.
