3 Kane County Educators Honored by ISBE

On June 20th, ISBE joined with the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) and the Illinois Education Association (IEA) to honor 40 educators who had been selected by their professional organizations as the best in their fields during the 2016-17 school year. 


Of the 40 educators that were honored, 3 were educators from Kane County. Congratulations to Sandra Gonzalez of West Aurora High School, Don Porzio of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, and Bev Taylor of Wasco Elementary School for being recognized as exemplary educators! Project Backpack 2017 is Looking for Donations

Project Backpack is currently accepting donations of school supplies to distribute to students within Elgin Community College's district area for the upcoming school year.


Donations of school supplies will be accepted prior to Monday, July 31 at several locations. The event will take place Saturday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ECC. For more information on school supplies needed and drop off locations, visit the Project Backpack website. 

Upcoming Events With Changing Children's Worlds Foundations 
This summer the ROE has partnered with Changing Children's Worlds Foundation to offer several programs this summer. The first is a free Parenting/Child Development program that meets at the ROE on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 June 28 - August 30th.

The second is a Facilitator Training Workshop for community-based Parenting Discussion/Learning groups that meets July 31st, August 4th, and August 7th. For more information, visit CCWF's website.
