Gear/Advanced Training
Are you a Blue Belt or Above?
Advanced Training
will take place on Saturday, May 9 from 12:00-1:00 pm. This class, always held on the second Saturday of the month, is for
Blue belts and above. It is a chance for students to work on higher level Karate material.
Monday, May 11 starts
Gear Week in the dojo for all students.
Please remember to have all your gear with you (boys make sure to put on your cups BEFORE coming to Karate). If you need new gear sizes or need to purchase gear for the first time, please stop by the front desk for assistance. Gear should be purchased after earning a White Belt. Also, if you or a child is apprehensive about sparring, please let us know so we can work with them 1 on 1.
Why do I need Gear? To keep students safe from injuries!
Students should purchase safety gear after they receive their White Belts and all safety gear does have to be purchased through the Academy. Students use safety gear for a number of activities, including but not limited to sparring.
All Academy students are eligible to participate in sparring at White Belt (this includes Adult, Youth, and Little Samurai students, but NOT Little Dragons). A complete safety gear package includes hand pads, foot pads, shin pads, head gear, mouth piece, a cup for boys, and an Academy bag (optional). We have all gear at the Academy and it's as easy as coming to the desk and getting sized up.
Why do we do light-contact Sparring?
Sparring works on many great skills, including distance, timing, and partner work. It also prepares students to protect themselves if they were in a self defense situation. The Academy only allows light contact during sparring and matches are watched closely by our Team Elite instructors you don't normally attend classes on a Saturday, make an exception and come join in on the fun. If you normally come on Saturday, perfect because you'll love our themed classes.
