Coagula Curatorial is pleased to announce a "Summer Of Art" series of events to coincide with the many cultural happenings of Downtown Los Angeles' Chinatown District. For one jam-packed month, Coagula Curatorial will be hosting openings, closings, performances, and other one-off events, showcasing the best in contemporary art, STARTING THIS SATURDAY. SATURDAY, JUNE 30 | 6-9PM JIM CARON - I AM NOT A TYPO BOOK SIGNING A book signing event for Coagula Issue #108, I Am Not A Typo, a collection of comics from the pages of Coagula Art Journal, by longtime cartoonist Jim Caron. The event coincides with CHINATOWN DESIGN NIGHT, an evening of Design and Art in both West Plaza and Central Plaza. SUNDAY, JULY 8 | 12PM - 6PM "NO JOKE" & GRONK: "THREE PRONG CLAW" CLOSING PARTY A closing party for Coagula Curatorial's two current exhibitions. NO JOKE is a look at contemporary artists using a cartoon-based vocabulary with all "pop" & "commercial" references extracted and removed. In the gallery basement is "Three Prong Claw", an installation by legendary LA artist, Gronk. FRIDAY, JULY 13 | 8PM - 11PM GORDY GRUNDY: "BURN - A RETROSPECTIVE" A ONE-NIGHT-ONLY event featuring thirteen bodies of work by Los Angeles artist & writer Gordy Grundy, who will exhibit the sum of all his visual efforts in a one night happening. Over two hundred paintings, works on paper, monoprints and etchings will survey an active and busy life in the arts. DJ Crown of the Destroyer Radio will spin original beats. SATURDAY, JULY 21 | 4PM - MIDNIGHT KAREN FINLEY Performs PSYCHIC PORTRAITS In conjunction with PERFORM CHINATOWN, a cross-gallery survey of performance art, Coagula Curatorial is pleased to present Karen Finley's first Los Angeles performance in 14 years.
