Happy Holidays!  Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah!

IT'S GIVING TUESDAY (December 1, 2015)!

Several years ago a company out of Vancouver, BC, Canada - AdBusters, started a #NoBuyDay in response to the #BlackFriday and subsequent #CyberMonday.  Since then, there has been collective shift in North American buying habits and a rising swell of people who were looking for more meaning in the holiday season and not just gift buying and giving.

When over $500Billion is spent in North America alone on the holiday season (according to ABC news - $700 spent per person), I have no grandiose ideas that we will shift this behaviour. Nor do I want to.  I do however, believe that we can tap into the consumer mindset and integrate philanthropy and social finance with retail and purchasing power.

TheCardThat.Gives is a charity GIVE card.  We have all seen gift cards, they are on the racks near the check-outs of grocery stores and other retail outlets.  Well, what if one of those cards could be redeemed for charity?  This is the product that we have recently released - a physical gift card where the recipient can direct the face-value ($25, $50, $75 and $100) of the card to any charity in Canada (for this holiday season).

We are making it super simple for people to buy these cards - online at www.thecardthat.gives and at select retailers in Calgary and Toronto.  BTW, if you are a business that would like to have these cards on sale at your store please let us know, we are looking for re-sale partners.

For businesses that want to give The Gift of Giving to their employees, customers, vendors or others in their network, we have a bulk buying option.  Businesses that buy multiples of cards will be given their own unique landing page where their recipients can see how the generosity of the business is multiplied and which charities have benefited from the generosity of the company.  It is also a way for us to amplify the story of our customers.

'Tis the Season for giving, so let's add a bit of retail philanthropy into the mix.

All the best to you and yours this holiday season.

The gift of charity is a great gift, and we hope you consider
it as you make up your lists for the holidays.

Happy Holidays and Merry Gifting!

Attention Small Business Owners!

Please join us for a "Reading Rally" on Wednesday, December 9th
from 1:15 pm-3:15 pm at:
Keeler School
(4807 Forego Ave SE,
Calgary, AB T2A 1P3)

It's a reading party in a school gym. Your employee group (whether 2 or 10+) can join dozens of volunteers from other small businesses too - to share the joy of reading! Each volunteer reads stories aloud to two or three young children.  Every child who attends receives a bag with great books. Often, the first book some of these children have ever owned.

"the most (meaningful) fun you'll have  in a couple of hours."
