On the heels of KPDs in Michigan and Oregon, another KPD is taking place on  Thursday, September 22nd in  Vancouver, British Columbia. This one will be the start of a  local IK/CK learning group. According to organizer and Kata Geek,  Tracy Defoe, the gathering will feature presentations from two companies doing daily IK and CK and is  free to the public. Space is limited for this Kata Practitioner Day (KPD), so contact Tracy soon at  [email protected] if you wish to participate.

At KataCon3 on Feb 21-22 in San Diego, IK/CK practitioners from the Healthcare, Software Development, Manufacturing and Office/Service worlds will present stories and lessons-learned. Here's just a small sample of the many presenters you'll meet at KataCon...
  • Mike Rother (author of Toyota Kata) will report on IK/CK experiences from the last year, which now come from all over the world.
  • Karyn Ross (co-author with Jeff Liker of The Toyota Way to Service Excellence) presents Kata for Creativity and Service Excellence.*
  • Skip Steward (Chief Improvement Officer at Baptist Memorial Health Care) shares how Kata Plays Well with Others.
  • Jeremiah Davis (well known for the "Kata at Home" video) speaks on Improvement KATA Practice Beyond Work.
