Calling All Book Clubs!
We love book clubs, and we'd love to supply your book club with some great books! We now have more than 150 kits of popular books for book clubs to check out. Each kit contains 10 or more paperback copies of the book as well as two large-print editions, and it all comes in a tote bag for easy carrying. We also include 12 copies of the reader's guide to help facilitate the discussion. To give everyone time to read the book, each kit can be checked out for eight weeks.  You'll find a complete listing of all the kits in our  catalog here . Simply place a hold on the kit you want with your library card number and PIN, and the library will contact you when it's ready for pick up.

Who's ready to curl up with a scary book, or grab some popcorn and settle in with a spooky movie? October is just about here, a time when many of us love to be scared---from the comfort of our homes, of course. Check out our Spooky Staff Picks list. You'll find some of our favorite scary books and movies for kids and adults.
Need More Spookiness? Check Out a Month of "Know Spirits" at Your Library
With October comes decreasing daylight, falling leaves, a chill in the air, and an increase in our fascination with all things spooky. From ghostly spirits to distilled spirits, DPL invites you to explore Bend's haunted past, hear about the Ouija Board craze of the 1920s, and learn the history about religions gone wrong, during October's month-long theme of "Know Spirits." Check your Events guide or click here for a full listing of programs dates, times and locations.
