Tips To Keep Pets Safe
In Wildfire Region
With the recent wildfires in the area, Clay Humane, a nonprofit veterinary clinic in Orange Park, is reminding pet owners of proper fire safety and prevention to protect pets from smoke inhalation and anxiety.

"Statistics show half a million pets are affected by smoke and 40,000 pets are killed by fires annually," said Dr. Christian Broadhurst, senior staff veterinarian at Clay Humane. "As wildfires rage in our area, take some preventative measures to help all members of your family, including the pets." [ READ MORE ]

Free Cat Sterilization Program Recognized
Clay Humane was the proud recipient of a $750 Award at the 2017 Celebrate Clay Community Service Awards breakfast on April 26, 2017. The Celebrate Clay awards, presented by the Paul & Klare Reinhold Foundation, "recognize, reward, and encourage community service within Clay County." Clay Humane was, once again, recognized for our free cat sterilization program and the far-reaching effects the program has on the pet overpopulation problem burdening our area shelters.  We wish to thank the Reinhold Foundation, all of our devoted, hard-working staff and the sponsors and supporters who help make our efforts successful!

De-Stress
Between the Test
Wilkinson Jr. High provided students with a De-stress Between the Test Day on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Therapy dogs from Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) visited classrooms between the morning and afternoon sessions of the FSA Science Test.  Molly, Teddy, Ziggy, and Deacon shared their good natured temperaments and friendly personalities with students who needed to relax and take their minds off testing for a while. This event was a huge success and the therapy dogs have been requested back by students, teachers, and staff to share more smiles and joy.

Clay Humane Volunteer Receives Senior Woman of the Year
The Shepherd Center of Orange Park celebrated outstanding senior volunteers at the 10th Annual Golden Years Gala on May 3rd.  The event was held at Club Continental and included breakfast and a silent/live auction with auctioneer Bradley Bean.  The master of ceremonies, Ken Amaro, spoke graciously about the nine Clay County finalists and their contributions to the community.

One of Clay Humane’s own, Mary Ann Baugh, received the esteemed Woman of the Year Award for her many accomplishments and volunteer efforts.
Mary is an active member of nine different volunteer organizations: Garden Club of Orange Park, Orange Park Medical Center Auxiliary, NARFE, Clay Allemanders and Moose Promenaders Square Dance Clubs, NEFL Square and Round Dance Association, Orange Park Community Theatre, Grove Park Elementary Youth Garden and of course, Clay Humane. This 79-year-old dynamo, is in constant motion and has no plans of slowing down. Mary’s organization skills, willingness to serve, dedication and ever-positive attitude are a blessing to many local organizations.   We at Clay Humane are proud of Mary Ann and hope she continues to lend her much needed volunteer talents for many years to come!
