FROM THE ASSOCIATIONS GENERAL MINISTER
colorful_tree_chat.jpg
It has been a busy and exciting 4 months. I continue to revel in the warm welcome you offer me. Thank you!

Since I have met many of you, but not all of you, during the month of June I have scheduled active ministers' gatherings in what used to be known as program districts or area groups. All clergy serving congregations have received invitations from me to gather just to get acquainted so I can learn about you and your ministry and discuss how the Association can connect better and be a resource to you for the health and well-being of your congregation. I am looking forward to meeting/seeing you soon. I am grateful to the congregations that are hosting these gatherings.

Retired clergy and those who are not serving congregations at this time - chaplains, national staff, and MiDs - I have not forgotten you. I am plannning to schedule gatherings with you as well. So watch your email for invitations soon. I look forward to meeting/seeing you all so we can continue to partner in ministry.

Don't forget to come and hear the OH Conference Visioning Team's report on Saturday, June 23, at 10AM at First Congregational Church of Akron.

Blessings,

Nayiri

KIEWIT RECEIVES AWARD
On May 9, Rev. Dr. Paul Kiewit received the first United Church Homes' (UCH) Diller Legacy Leadership Award. Paul first contributed to the organization through his church when he was 17 years old. Rev. Kenneth Daniel, president and CEO of UCH, was able to completely surprise Paul as his three children and their spouses joined the Board for the honor. Paul was thanked for his leadership in the context of UCH's mission, his dedication to the church and his exemplary witness as someone who has been able to age abundantly.
PRAYER NOTES invite us to think of one another, to take time to lift up to God our congregations, and to engage with one another in prayer, thanksgiving and supplication. You are invited to pray about four of our congregations this week per their prayer notes. You are also invited to send us prayer requests for your church and we'll be glad to include them in Prayer Notes.

MEET THE NEW TRANSITIONAL CONFERENCE MINISTER
Your Board of Directors held a special meeting on June 11 in which they approved Rev. David M. Long-Higgins as our new Transitional Conference Minister. He will begin his ministry with us on September 1. The Search Committee was impressed with Dave's passion, spirituality, and deep understanding of the current reality within the Ohio Conference. It was also impressed with his communication skills, both written and oral, and felt these would be critical as the conference considers the recommendations from the Vision Team.

UPCaM CALLS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
