Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
Director of Education
Selection Process

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is undertaking a search for a new Director of Education. Dr. Jennifer Adams, will be retiring effective December 31, 2018 after seven years of exceptional service and unprecedented achievement as Director of Education.

The OCDSB has retained Boyden, a global executive search firm, to assist the Board with this important work. Over the coming months, the Board will undertake a comprehensive recruitment process which includes the following key steps - seek community input; develop a position profile; advertise the position; interview candidates and make an offer. The Board hopes to make a decision by the start of October in order to have a new Director in place for January 1, 2019.

We want to hear from you!
A first and important step before we can officially launch the search, is seeking input from our staff and community partners. We are inviting parents, community partners, school councils, committee members, students, and staff to take a few minutes and share your thoughts on these questions:
·          How would you define success for our Director of Education over the next five years?
·          What are the pressing issues that will require the Director’s immediate attention?
·          What core competencies (i.e. experiences, knowledge, qualities, etc.) would you consider mandatory? Nice to have?
·          Why would becoming the Director of OCDSB at this time be an attractive opportunity?
·          Do you have any names to suggest?

If you wish to provide input, please complete the online survey by June 15th, 2018 .
