COMMUNITY STRENGTHS SURVEY
Ogallala RESIDENTS, COMMUTERS & VISITORS we need your help!

Hollman Media and researchers at the University of Nebraska at Kearney are working with us to see how well our community is performing in several categories known to be important to individuals or families seeking to relocate.

The survey results can assist with branding efforts, which would focus on community strengths that meet universal needs. Likewise, revitalization efforts could address weaknesses uncovered by the survey. Click the link below to participate!
EXPLORING LOCAL CAREERS
Sixty seniors from Ogallala and Paxton high schools participated in the recent EXCEL Tours (Exploring Career and Education Locally) presented by Keith County Area Development, in partnership with Mid-Plains Community College and local businesses. The students toured Pinnacle Bank, Erthum's Heating & Cooling, Davis Land Investments, and 21st Century Equipment. While on the tour, students were able to get hands on experience working with sheet metal, observe the operations of a bank, gain knowledge of general contracting and the process of construction, and were exposed to a new side of agriculture and the technology that drives it. Members of the Family Medical Center team also spoke with the students about the career paths available in-regards to nursing, medical coding, & medical assisting, especially as they relate to rural practice.

After the business tours, students then met at the MPCC Ogallala Campus for lunch and an inside look at the programs MPCC offers, as well as financial aid opportunities.

A huge thank you to our participating businesses and students! To be a part of EXCEL in the future, contact Sadie at 308-284-6623 or [email protected]
BUSINESS TRANSITION ASSISTANCE
Did you know that an estimated 60% of owners will leave their small business over the next decade? Demographics and time are creating more sellers and fewer buyers. Successfully leaving a business requires planning and time - three or more years, in fact. The sooner an owner begins to plan, the better the odds are of success.

Nebraska Business Development Center has received special funding to assist small-businesses with exit-transition planning at NO COST. This limited time offer is available to 12 businesses in non-metro Nebraska, ensuring that owners maximize value, and ensure continued local ownership and operations to the benefit of their employees, community and industry.

Any application that is not selected for the no-cost engagement will be offered a 50% discount on a business valuation or exit-transition plan.

Find the project application at nbdcvalue.com
All applications must be received by January 31.
