Principal's Message
Dear Parents,

As we are in the second semester, this is the perfect time for your son and/or daughter to set goals for the second half of the year.  One area to look at is organization.  Cleaning out their locker, organizing their folders/files, and setting up their assignment notebook is very important.  Getting plenty of rest, eating right, and drinking lots of water also add to a student's success.

Our Middle School Drama club performed the "Sound of Music" at the end of January to sold out crowds.  It is always amazing to see the talent in our middle schoolers.  Kudos to Mrs. Green and KHS history teacher, Mrs. Wirthwein, for another outstanding musical!

In a continued effort for Career Readiness, I am including two flyers for our 7th and 8th graders to look over and plan to attend some of these enriching experiences.  Our middle schoolers are able to participate in these opportunities as a pathway to guide their education and career plans.  It is never too early to explore different experiences and I would like to invite the parents to attend these with their son/daughter.

We have begun planning classes and schedules for the next school year.  Your child will be bringing home planning sheets, schedule selections, and forms in the next month or so. Please carefully discuss the choices and selections.

Our faculty has focused on common assessment  and small group planning as they follow the standards for their classroom instruction.  Test taking is a skill that we continually work on with students as they prepare for the future. The results of the assessments at the end of the year are used to improve student instruction.  Our students will be participating in the state assessments on the following dates:

March 27-28   ELA Grade 6
March 29-30   ELA Grade 7
March 31/ April 3   ELA Grade 8

April 24-25   Math Grade 8
April 26-27   Math Grade 7
April 28/ May 1   Math Grade 6

May 2-3   Science 8
May 4-5   Social Studies 6

Forever a Bomber,
Patricia W. Brockway
Principal
