The Gaga Pit Awaits

Just a few more end-of-the-summer adjustments, and Kesher is ready to its September 25th kick off!  The classes have been cleaned, new materials and activities are lined up, and most importantly, the Gaga pit is ready for some serious playing!  Please check out the 5777 Kesher calendar for dates of Kesher classes, Shabbatonim (in the synagogue) and the over night Shabbaton (at Kalsman), class Havdalah nights, and family services.  I am looking forward to all of this!

Kes her's First Day of 5777
Pancake Breakfast & Parent Orientation
Kesher's first day is Sunday, September 25!  We will kick off the first day with our 5th Annual Pancake Breakfast at 9am in the CBI Social Hall.  Thank you, Bortherhood for sponsoring and flipping all these pancakes for us!  At 10am we will gather for our regularly scheduled family morning tfilah.  After the children have left the sancturary to thier classrooms around 10:30am, the Kesher Parent Committee (KPC) co-chairs will hold a parent orientation session where parents and guardians can learn about this year's curriculum, calendar, parent involvement, special events and more.
Community Hike
Sunday, September 18 at 9am
Bring the whole family as local naturalist David Strich will guide us through Point Whitehorn - a wild and vibrant plot of woods right along the coast.
The Point Whitehorn Marine Reserve features 54 acres of forest, bluff and beach, with a 3/4 mile fully accessible trail to spectacular viewpoints of the Strait of Georgia and San Juan Islands. A switchback path descends from the bluff to access a windswept cobble beach. We will explore the coastal forest, with abundant black cherry and sitka spruce trees and head-high salal, and then, hopefully, enjoy the lingering summer on the beach.
The low tide that day is at 12:46pm (5 ft), so consider staying a while longer to enjoy all the treasures that will surface!

Class Havdalah Nights
Kesher's class Havdalah nights are annual get-together events for each class where families gather at a home of a host family to share a meal or light refreshments around the beautiful ritual of Havdalah to mark the end of Shabbat and the start of a new week.

This is a great opportunity to connect with parents and get to know the children of the group. Rabbi Samuels, Andrea Shupack, or Sagit Hall will be joining the gatherings and will lead the Havdalah blessing.
