April Showers, Bring May Flowers

Dear Friends,

Always at the end of April, I think about the rhyme of "April showers, bring May flowers". To me, it means our ongoing investment in the education of children will end up in a beautiful result of by adding another productive and motivated member to our society.

This April, thank to our Kiarostami's Educational Scholarship and work of our wonderful volunteers, we were able to have the best month in Child Foundation's history with more than 120 new sponsors. I am glad that once again we are able to accommodate, transferring your kindness to children, but we are still looking forward to helping even more children and I like to ask you visit our waiting list children to see how you can play role on that.

We are planning for our next major campaign, the food package for thousands of families in need. I will provide you with additional information in our next newsletter but meanwhile, if you wish to make a donation toward one of our many humanitarian causes, please visit here.

Thank you and wishing you all the best

Read With Me, in Afghanistan!

Our team in Afghanistan Office conducted a workshop with principal and staff of five schools in Mazar-e-Sharif. The goal of this project is to provide quality books and make it accessible to children living in remote and deprived areas.

The project focuses on reading aloud aiming to create a joyful experience for children, while it intends to empower teachers, librarians, and volunteers in remote areas, through training workshops, regular mentoring.

"Read with me" is a project designed by the Institute for Research on the History of Children's Literature (IRHCL), to promote reading for/with disadvantaged children who are generally at risk. Child Foundation's office in Afghanistan is trying to implement their lessons plans in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Hi, I'm Omid

I am a talented 11-year- student in the 4th grade with excellent GPA from the city of Ilam. I have 3 brothers and one sister.

We lost our father to a heart attack. He was a simple daily worker which was suffering from diabetes and lost his both legs because of diabetes before his deadly heart attack.

My mother is a housewife and our only income is a charity which is not enough for our daily expenses.

I hope with your support I can continue my education and change my life toward a brighter future.

Tabriz School Project
A generous lady donated a large piece of land to be used for building a school for children in need in Tabriz.

Child Foundation has finished surveying the land and have blue prints ready.

For additional information, and to participate in this project, please visit our page here.

My Name is Zakiya
I am a six-year student in the first grade with good GPA from the Mazar-E-Sharif. I lost my father one year ago because of a heart attack.

We live in a public housing that is leased to us for two years and have to leave at the end of the lease. That is one of my mother's major concerns. All of my brother and sisters had to quit school because we couldn 't afford the education expenses, but with help of school, they all started the schooling. We are all in first grade!

Please don't let us go illiterate. Your support can help me and my family to have a bright future.
