Big Dirt Dig  9:30-11 a.m.  next to Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. Sponsored by Parents as Teachers and Hannibal Parks & Recreation. Children encouraged to bring shovels and toys  for interactive but messy fun. Sand sponsored by Bleigh Ready Mix.
Movies in the Park 8:30 p.m. at Huckleberry Park. Before "Secret Life of Pets" there will be demonstration by Quincy Kennel Club's Square Dancing Dogs & Drill Team. The movie is sponsored by the local Preceptor Zeta Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

Standup Paddleboard Yoga classes June 10 at the Hannibal Aquatic Center.
All equipment is provided by SUP St. Louis. The classes are open to all skill levels and offered at two different times
  • 8 a.m.-9:45 a.m.
  • 10 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
Only 10 people will be allowed in each class. The cost is $25 per person. Register at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office at City Hall, 320 Broadway. More information is available at www.hannibalparks.org or by calling 573-221-0154.

Wiffle Ball at Clemens Field! Great River Wiffle Ball Association starting Tuesday night medium pitch league, only 8 teams accepted. The schedule will be set once teams have been submitted. Nature Hikes in Hannibal parks!!
There are free guided hikes but reservations must be made by calling Hannibal Parks & Recreation at 221-0154 or emailing [email protected]
  • Summer Solstice Creek Walk 10 a.m. to noon June 21 Meet at beginning of Bear Creek walkway off Main Street. Wear shoes you can get wet and walk on rocks with. Bring water and a small bucket. For ages 5 and up, 5-8-year-old children must be accompanied by an adult. 
  • Night Hike Through Sodalis Nature Preserve 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25. Meet at parking lot of Sodalis Nature Preserve, hike up to the bat caves, exploring nature signs along the way. Pause for a story at the top then return in the dark with sensory awareness activities. Hike will be on paved paths, about 2 miles. Night Hikes will be scheduled the last Friday of the month. Almost full!

  • Down by the River (for ages 5-7) 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday June 12-16 (Including a creek walk, crafts and interactive river observations and stories about the river)
  • Gone Fishing (for ages 8-12) 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday July 17-21 (Including exploration and research about the river, along with creating and acting out big fish tales)

  • Boys in Autumn June 1-10 in Nipper Park. Play set in 1920 about Tom and Huck returning to Hannibal. Bleachers will be available or bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the park. 7:30 p.m. each night and one matinee performance 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3. Buy tickets here!
     Music Under the Stars, every Thursday at 7 p.m. starting June 1 on historic Hill Street in front of Mark Twain's boyhood home. Here's the schedule.
  • Relay for Life of Marion County, starting at 4 p.m. June 2 on Main Street. Family friendly with games, music and entertainment. Luminaria bags for $5 until 8 p.m. At 9 p.m., luminaria ceremony with names read aloud.

  • BSMF5K to benefit Eugene Field Elementary Playground Project 8 a.m. June 10 at Mark Twain Cave and Campground. Register online!  
  • Smile-A-Mile Buddy Walk 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10 at Nipper Park.  Every year, Marion County Services teams up with the National Down Syndrome Society in order to help raise awareness about those with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities with a one mile walk.   • Community Helping Community Art Auction to raise money for Hannibal Free Clinic 5:30 p.m. June 10 at Hannibal Country Club.  The artwork that is up for auction will be donated by local artists in a variety of mediums.

Huckleberry Park shelter is finished!
The Born Learning Trail is an interactive series of 10 outdoor games around Huckleberry Park playground.  There are several new pieces of all-inclusive playground equipment, including two handicap-accessible swings and musical instruments at Huckleberry Park playground.
