What You Need to Know About Calcium
Treatment Options

The May issue of Kidney Chronicles features articles on understanding how calcium affects your health, and ESRD treatment options (including palliative care).

Kidney Chronicles, a newsletter to help educate and inform patients, is the Network's patient newsletter, is a monthly, two-page, printable PDF that is available in English and SpanishPlease distribute this newsletter to patients, family members and care partners.
Use the newsletter as an opportunity to start a conversation about reviewing patients' lab work and understanding how the ERSD diet impacts health.  You can also use this issue to review treatment modalities to ensure that patients are aware of all their treatment options and can articulate why they chose the treatment they are using now.

Remember: Hypercalcemia is part of the ESRD QIP, and treatment option education is part of the Annual Plan of Care in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Conditions for Coverage, as well as the ICH CAHPS survey process.

Providers:   Please print copies of Kidney Chronicles (English | Spanish) to distribute to your patients, and encourage them to subscribe for an electronic subscription.

PAC Members/SMEs: Please (if possible) check with your dialysis facility staff to ensure that the Newsletter is available for patients.

Please feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone that you feel would be interested in signing up for an electronic subscription.
