From the Program Director

Sarah Chandonnet, HLL director

This week, we're excited to launch pilot year 3 of the Humanist Learning Lab, our secular Sunday school!

We've heard your feedback and we've made some changes from last year. For one, the times and age groups for the classes have changed. This year, the 5-7 group will meet from 9:00-10:00am and the 8-11 group will meet from 10:30am-12:00. This means that both classes will get to use
Rebecca Vaudreuil, HLL teacher
our great new classroom, and both will be taught by our wonderful new teacher! Rebecca is a trained, professional educator (read more about her here) who is excited to meet her new classes!

On Sunday, September 7 from 12:00-1:00 we invite interested parents and families to join us for the Humanist Learning Lab open house to learn more about the program and meet the teacher and volunteers. The open house does not require prior registration and will include an opportunity to enroll.

Just because we're at Harvard doesn't mean that you need any Harvard affiliation to join. All families are welcome!

While we get  zero funding from the University, being at Harvard does have its perks:  in fact, several Harvard scholars and doctoral candidates in education are working hard to design and teach our curriculum.

We're aiming to give your kids an amazing and necessary experience: learning how to be ethical citizens of the world, and how to connect with community. And now that we're in pilot year 3 of our program, we've had time to practice and we're more ready than ever to deliver something wonderful and memorable. We hope you'll join us!

After the open house, to kick off our regular Fall Sunday programs, from 1:30-3:00pm we will host a very special panel on secular parenting, featuring BU professor of psychology Catherine Caldwell-Harris and Don Unger, author of Men Can: Changing the Image and Reality of Fatherhood in AmericaRead more about the panelists here.
