Support the Mid-South Food Bank during the 2018 Kids Kan food drive!

For more than 20 years, SCS has supported the Mid-South Food Bank by collecting non-perishable foods during the annual Kids Kan food drive . We're hoping to make SCS history with our biggest collection year ever in 2018! Donate non-perishable foods or money (every dollar buys three meals for a family in need!) at your nearest school or District office. We'll be collecting food and money through March 30 . Don't forget, the top homeroom in every participating school will win a FREE classroom party, courtesy of Kroger!
Get summer ready with FREE employee fitness classes every week!

Beach body season is right around the corner! If you don't already have a fitness regimen, we've got you covered! Check out FREE fitness classes at the M-SCEA building (around the corner from the BOE on Flicker St.) every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. All SCS employees have free access to these classes for the next 16 weeks. Just present your SCS badge. If you're concerned about keeping up, never fear! The class is designed for people of all fitness levels. Check out the flyer for more details.
The Superintendent's Summer Learning Academy is back and better than ever!

What goes great with a summer body? A summer BRAIN! The Superintendent's Summer Learning Academy is coming back for summer 2018. New this year, the FREE summer learning academy will be open to all grades (K-12) and available at nearly 50 school sites throughout the District. All students in Shelby County can begin applying on March 19, but there's a catch - every student must be registered for 2018-19 in an SCS-managed school to apply. Start spreading the word!
2018-19 online registration is less than three weeks away!

Now that you're excited about summer learning, let's talk about early registration! We're kicking off online registration earlier than ever this year, and Superintendent Hopson has a set a goal for all schools to register 95 percent of their returning students before the end of the year. Families can start registering online for 2018-19 on March 19 . This year's process will be smoother than ever for students who are already enrolled in SCS. The previous year's info will already be pre-loaded, so if students have their required shots and there are no changes to address or contact info, just review, approve and that's it! No forms, no lines and no school visits this summer. Let's get excited about the 2018-19 school year!
