Summer Camp Highlights
We closed another amazing summer with a record number of Junior Kieve and Junior Wavus Campers. We also had a record number of campers on long trips in Maine's remote areas
(Allagash, Long Voyage, and Maine Trails)
, Kieve with 160 boys and Wavus with 132 girls. The average number of years for campers is now 7 with kids staying longer for the wilderness tripping experience. Best of all the weather was fantastic! Check out Kieve Camp for Boys listed in

2016 Wilderness Alumni Trip
The lure of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway is hard to resist. Last month several former campers commuted to camp to canoe and conquer the colossal creek that is the Allagash. Over a four day period, these adventurers not only survived the wild waters of the wilderness, but thrived. The full trip notes will be in the newsletter for your enjoyment, but mark your calendars for the next Alumni Allagash outing next August!

Lauren E. C. Geddes
Hikes the Pacific Coast Trail!
Lauren is a former Wavus Camper and Counselor (Wavus Council 2009, 2011, 2013-15) and a 2015 Graduate of Teesside University. She hails from Bishop's Stotford, Hertfordshire, England, but has embraced years of adventures here in the US. In 2015 she led Wavus' inaugural 200 miles on the Appalachian Trail for the revised and improved Maine Trails journey. She clearly inspired herself as well as her campers.
Lauren committed to hiking the Pacific Coast Trail in order to increase awareness of dementia and to support the The Mid Essex Charity Foundation in their bid to build a therapeutic garden for individuals living with dementia. She has raised over £2,000 to date. She started on the trail in Mexico during April 2016 and will have trekked over 2,650 miles when she ends her journey in Canada this fall!
