Kindness

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."   Plato
This quotation is as relevant today as it was 2500 years ago. In fact, we generally have no idea what other people are dealing with, from the cashier at the store to our coworkers, to some of our closest friends.

And though we may negatively compare our inner life to someone else's outer life, it is what's within us that matters most, to borrow from Emerson.

This quotation reminds us:
  • To be kind to others because we don't know what they are going through.
  • To realize that our tendency to compare ourselves with others, either favorably or unfavorably, is almost always inaccurate.
  • And to be kind to ourselves too, as we can be our own worst critics.
Watch for opportunities to show kindness. It blesses the receiver and the giver. And giving will lead you to your best life going forward.
