Grow Together

Play, laugh, learn and grow together at the Y.  These fun and interactive programs will change every six weeks to keep thing exciting.  This is a great opportunity to be meet other young adults at the Y.

Grow Your Game

When we say GROW your game, we mean literally.  for six weeks we will be having life-size board games including: Battleship, Hungry Hungry Hippos and Giant Foosball.

Grow Outside
Apr 6 - May 11
It is your turn to give back.  This six week program will be about how we can GROW the world outside.  We will be spending three weeks learning gardening techniques at the community garden at our YMCA Express at Gainsboro location.  The last three weeks will be spent working together cleaning up sections of the Greenway and learning the impact we have on the world around us.

Racquetball Clinic

Wanting to try a new sport? Give racquetball a go! Our very own Membership Coordinator and professional racquetball player, Kelani Bailey, will be hosting a clinic to give you an introductory lesson into racquetball. Spots are limited so register now! Members only. 
Easter Celebration
Ages 1-12

Grab your baskets, the Easter Bunny is hitting the trail and he's making his way to the Y!  Children will participate in fun and games, including an Easter egg hunt, make and take crafts, a bounce house and more!

Weight Loss Boot Camp 
T & TH Apr 3 - May 10
6:30 - 7:30 pm
This six week is designed to help you get back on track to reaching your fitness goals before summer. Join us for one hour of interval and circuit training. Each session will be geared towards beginner and intermediate exercisers.  Measurements and fitness testing performed at beginning and end.  Register by April 10.
Group X Challenge
Now - March 25
Heat things up this winter by participating in our Group X Challenge! This is a 6-week challenge where you'll get more energy, more strength and more endurance all while building relationships and forming habits.   Plus, we'll be giving away weekly prizes!

HOW DOES IT WORK?                                      
1.) Pick up a Group X Challenge Tracker Card at the Welcome Desk or Group Exercise rooms. Whenever you attend a class, ask the instructor to initial a box on the card. You get one point per workout and you can earn up to FIVE [5] bonus points for working out each week. Turn in your card each week and pick up another.

2.) It's Better Together, so we'll be providing you with Group X Guest Passes during the challenge to earn extra points. Your guest will be allowed to experience the class for free and you will earn [1] bonus point for each guest you bring. Earn FIVE [5] bonus points if your guest becomes a member. Make sure to return completed Guest Passes to the Welcome Desk so you get full credit!

3.) Every Week there is a prize drawing. Turn in your Challenge Tracker Card or Group X Guest Pass for points that week and your name will be entered in the drawing for a weekly prize. Our prizes get bigger with each week, and as long as you keep participating, you can win a weekly prize!

4.) The grand prize is awarded to the member with the highest number of total points at the end of the Group X Challenge. Must be a member of the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge to win. 
Youth and Family
Outdoor Spring Soccer 
Ages 3-1st grade
March 17-April 28

Young players are introduced to soccer through drills, games and active play. This program provides a safe place for players to enhance motor skills, strengthen listening skills and build confidence. Each session is led by a volunteer coach and times may change based on sign up. Register by March 10 and for more information, contact Josh Yerkes, Youth and Family Director at jyerkes@ymcavbr.org.
Kid's Night Out
Ages 2 - 10 years old
Fri March 16 & April 20
5:30 - 9:00pm
M: $14 l  NM: $18
Parents, drop off the kids and enjoy an evening to yourselves. Children will enjoy a nut-free dinner provided by the Y, activities , swimming, games and more.   Register by Wednesday prior to program.
Swim Lessons
Spring 1 begins March 6
YMCA swim lessons teach safety and responsibility around the water.  Participants gain confidence and self-esteem as they work to become better, safer swimmers. 

All ages - from infants to seniors - can learn to swim. Check out our new swim classes!

*Swim Starters Aquatic Program - Parent/Child program 6 mos to 3 years old
*Swim Basics - Beginners 4 to 12 years old
*Swim Strokes - Intermediate & Advanced 4 to 12 years old
*Private and Semi Private lessons are available for all ages!
