Artazuri Spain
Garnacha
Rosado 2011

An outstandingly refreshing rosé made from this mightily impressive estate, watched over by the careful eye of Juan Carlos Lopez De Lacalle, the magus of Artadi. The Garnacha is naturally exuberant and richly fruity; intense aromas of red currants, strawberries and raspberries: it impresses with its grip, structure and length. The red fruits are allied to gentle notes of mandarin, spice and pepper. A really excellent rosé, promising much, delivering more.

Chateau Roc de Segur 2010  This is a great value Bordeaux
from an esteemed vintage. The
concentrated nose offers ripe
blackberry/cassis aromas with
a hint of dark chocolate, mineral
notes and light cinnamon and clove nuances. The palate is also loaded with flavour, though less 'fruity' than the nose suggests, bringing the dark chocolate and mineral notes to the forefront. Quite impressive for a less than a year old Bordeaux! An ideal pairing with grilled and roasted red meats.

Famille Perrin
Les Cornuds Vinsobres 2009
90-93 Points Robert Parker
A blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, the 2009 Perrin et Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages Vinsobres
Les Cornuds reveals abundant
aromas of crushed rocks, spring flowers and blue as well as black fruits in its darker, more cool climate style. It is completely different from the Grenache-dominated wines from the warmer climates of Cairanne, Rasteau, Vacqueyras or Gigondas. The impressive, deep, rich Vinsobres Les Cornuds comes from high elevation (400 feet) vineyards, and should easily age for 10 years.

Chateau des Jacques
(Louis Jadot)
Clos de Rochegres
Moulin-à-Vent 2009
93-94 Points Robert Parker
Intriguing suggestions of crushed stone
and iodine mingle with blackberry and cherry in the nose of the Chateau des Jacques 2009 Moulin-a-Vent Clos de Rochegres, from a site that features thin, iron-rich soil over hard granite mother rock at the summit of its appellation. This has a very different shape from any of its stable mates, round and enveloping, yet at the same time exhibiting vibratory energy, and depth of marrow and mineral matter, not to mention sweet fruit. Palate-staining in its persistence, this memorable and extraordinary value should prove a monument to its vintage worth following for 8, 10 years.
