The Opening Act

Club President Chris called the meeting of August 15th to order. Providing the entertainment once again was Jonathan "56 Keys" Turner.
First announcement from Chris was a thank you we had received for some of the scholarships the Club had made to eligible students.
We were all delighted to see and welcome back Jud Briggs.
Congratulations were also extended to members, Guse, Ingham, and former member Hultquist.  The recognition they received were for their contributions to the community.
Thanks were also extended to those Club members who volunteered to work at the Classic this past week.
Joan was also thanked for her initiative and leadership at the District Convention.
A call went out to membership to help take on the Bags project. As we all know, Adam Bain's child has encountered serious health problems, and this long-time, hard-working Club member has been stretched out to the max. We need sponsors and we need help in getting the equipment prepared and signing up teams. Call Mike Bell for more details.
Phase II of peanut sales will be coming up for the Case lot sales. If you liked the first case, either you or the animals at Niabi will love the second.
Liz made another pitch for the NAMI walk.
In fun and fellowship, Jud didn't take a break as he won the preliminary prize which he graciously donated back to the Club. Steve Andich won the grand prize, and after noticing that the color looked similar to the water polo pool in Rio, decided to take the money.

The Feature Attraction

The program was given by Jeff Coussens from the Augustana Theater Department. He gave some of his background and steps that he took to get to Augustana. He also showed how revisions to the student center will take shape. The availability of tours once the theater is completed were promised.
