The Opening Act
            
    President Chris Elsberg called the meeting of June 27 to order.  Tickling those ivories was Jonathan Turner. 
    The first point of order was the second reading of officers and Board members presented by Club leadership.  Tom Hanson would serve as President, Jeff Condit as First Vice President, Julie Derrer as Second Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer offices to be held the same as this year, and four new Board members, Marla Andich, Steve Fitzsimmons, John Gifford and Steve Tollenaer.
    There will be no meeting on July 4 and no joint meeting July 5.  The next time we meet will be July 11.  This will also serve as the annual meeting for the election of officers and Board members.
    It's still not too late to get a foursome together for the Division golf outing on July 20.  If interested, contact Joe Robb.
The District Convention will feature our Club serving as part of the entertainment in the Kiwanis Country Fair.  This will be on August 5 and promises to be a laugh a minute.
    The International Convention will be held August 4 - 6 in Toronto, eh.
    Items are being collected for the First Day Fund, which will also benefit from a 4:00 - 8:00 liquid refreshment outing on July 11 at Legends.  There will also be bikers rumbling their engines for First Day Fund on July 31.
    Liz Loveless reminded us of the July 24 annual NAMI Walk.  Our own Heidi Collins will be serving as Director of the event.
For the bags tournament, there will be a pre-event workout at 4:30 Thursday.  If interested, contact Adam Bain or Mike Bell.
For WVIK, there will be information concerning a trip to France and the Italian Riviera.
    In Fun and Fellowship, Kristi Crafton was responsible for selecting a number of patriotic prizes.  Don Massey won the preliminary prize on behalf of the Kartel.  Tommy Smith won the grand prize of an exquisite Riesling with 
The Feature Attraction
        
     The program was presented by Jessica Waytenick, who spoke on the Colonel Davenport House on Arsenal Island.  She started with a history of Colonel Davenport, leading to his settling in Rock Island and the role he played in the development of not only the Arsenal, but the Quad Cities in general.  Jessica stated that volunteers are always needed.
