Dining Tour Books are in. Our goal is to sell 80 books, and we have sold less than 20 to date.  These makes great gifts.  Cost is $35, with $10 coming back to the club, and this can be billed to your account.
L ike us on Facebook!  Make sure to check out our Facebook page. Search for Rock Island Kiwanis Club, and like us!  Make sure to tell your friends and colleagues to like our page also. It's a great way to get the word out about all the good work we do!

The Opening Act
Our apologies for the delay in the past few week's newsletter. Due to changes at work, both our editor and email news publisher (Bill Cleaver and Daryl Empen) have been unable to get the last few issues out.  This news is from the October 3rd meeting, but we wanted to make sure we got information out about upcoming meetings.  Thanks for your patience.

President Tom Hanson called the meeting of October 5th to order. Assisting in entertainment was Jonathan Turner and his Debate Duo.

Tom started a new point of emphasis for his term by recognizing Jeff Behrens as this year's first Kiwanian of the Week for all of his efforts on behalf of the Club.

Tom also struck a different cord by suggesting that attendees leave their cell phones on and then share with others the fun and appeal of membership in Kiwanis.

It was announced that Duncan Reid is still fighting poor health.

We were reminded that next Thursday, there will be a Mega Club Meeting on the Iowa side of the River. More details at our next meeting on Monday.

Sheila reminded us that she is Cheese Maven for the year. Sales will be going on until October 31.

We were also reminded that on November 14th, we will be having a Kiwanis international speaker focusing on Club building.

Guests included Kiwanians from Alleman High School.

In fun and fellowship, Joe Robb won the $3 preliminary prize which he graciously donated back to the club. Wine was won by Sue, and, not surprisingly, she elected to keep this Vintage selection from the Vineyards of ExxonMobil.

The Feature Attraction

The program was led by Lieutenant Governor Ed Kemnitz. We were provided with a brief background on Ed's activities, job, and involvement with the Geneseo Club. His primary purpose was to install officers and to honor outgoing board members as well as new board members taking their place. He also made this special presentation to our immediate past President, Chris Elsberg, as well as recognition of the incoming President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Club Secretary, and Club Treasurer. This was followed by timely and interesting presentations by incoming Club officers addressing the plans and vision for the coming year.
